Maybe just schedule Ga Southern every week, they can fill it up.

Will be 33k after phase 2, all seatbacks and part of a $300M development.

How many times does the Gamecocks have to beat ga st?

Probably not for a long, ,long while.

I was just thinking, a team that has real trouble winning anything, and cant even beat these fcs teams, perhaps ga st should move down to d2 where they have some sort of shot.

a condescending attitude from one of the worst teams in football makes you seem foolish.

And they are FBS and in the Sun Belt and you're in the OVC and FCS. Where you will stay unless you'd like to apply for a waiver to move up as a FBS independent. Like LU, you have no chance of getting sponsored by a FBS conference in the forseeable future.

Its not your fault, but due to the vagarities of your location, the fact that Troy moved first, your enrollment, etc.

But here's where JSU made a mistake

Jax State could have moved up before UAB did. Before Ga State did. Before Troy did. Heck, UAB moved up as a FBS independent. Unfortunately, Jax State didn't think long term. So they're in FCS, and likely will remain there.

Troy moved up as an independent.

Reality is Sun Belt did not want ULM as a member but added them football only when La.Tech went WAC. They didn't want Troy either.

When the NCAA changed the definition of an FBS conference from six schools playing FBS football to 8 FBS playing all sports the Sun Belt had to add. That got Troy in, Utah and Idaho were headed in as full members. It was only once Idaho and USU went off the table that ULM was extended a Sun Belt all-sports invite.

That's why when people dismiss the academic component they are missing the distinction between survival expansion and enhancement expansion.

Neither Troy nor ULM were deemed fits when the Sun Belt wasn't in survival mode, when survival mode kicked in the resistance to Troy disappeared overnight, and eventually the resistance to ULM went away.

Just keep that tucked back. A "never" can become an invite when survival is in the mix.

Sure, but remember both those schools were added in a time when the Belt needed a lot of teams. I'm just not seeing that scenario develop in the short to medium term. USA isn't going to drop football to avoid playing Jax State. But I don't see USA and Jax State playing together for loooooong time, based upon the current setup.

Chattanooga seems like a place that is content being lower division from what I could gather from interactions with Chattanooga FC supporters (the second best fans of division 4 soccer, probably in the top 10 for best fans in all of American soccer).

I'll believe it when I see it. When will phase 2 (33k, all seat back chairs) be completed?

Cheers!

So in 2018 Georgia St will own a 33,000 seat (all chair back) stadium? Obviously, I don't think it will happen. I'm not wishing against it, I just don't think it will happen. Been hearing so many fans of schools tell me their big plans and not one time have I seen what was predicted come to fruition. My skepticism is based 100% on experience. I'll book mark this. If I'm wrong in 2018 I'll stand up like a man and say I called BS, and I was wrong.

Only the sbc would hijack a chattanooga thread on the realignment board to talk about some soon to be possible ga st stadium. Typical .

Why would a school build a stadium 3x the size of a normal crowd?

Average games going back a few years. Only Georgia Southern games had bigger crowds which I assume is due to thier fans.

October 8 3:30 p.m. Texas State Georgia Dome • Atlanta, GA ESPN3 W 41–21 13,179
October 29 5:00 p.m. at South Alabama Ladd–Peebles Stadium • Mobile, AL (Rivalry) ESPN3 L 10–13 11,565

November 21 2:00 p.m. South Alabama Georgia Dome • Atlanta, GA (Rivalry) ESPN3 W 24–10 10,033
November 27 2:00 p.m. Troy Georgia Dome • Atlanta, GA ESPN3 W 31–21 10,113

September 6 2:00 p.m. New Mexico State Georgia Dome • Atlanta, GA ESPN3 L 31–34 10,126
October 11 2:00 p.m. Arkansas Statedagger Georgia Dome • Atlanta, GA ESPN3 L 10–52 10,196
October 18 7:30 p.m. at South Alabama Ladd–Peebles Stadium • Mobile, AL (Rivalry) ESPN3 L 27–30 13,186

I couldn't resist when I kept seeing claims that Georgia St would have a 33,000 all chair-back seat stadium in 2018. I don't believe that will happen and I will wager with anyone for $ on that. Anyone want to bet me? Panama?

Cheers!

You do realize that we own a stadium NOW with 49k chair backs, right? We are reducing to 23k this year. Adding 10k back next year and completing in 2019 k Phase 3 where all of football operations will be moved to the stadium.

You bought a baseball stadium. I'm talking about Georgia St's football stadium. And UTSA plays in the Alamodome...And USF plays in RayJay, and SDSU plays in the Q and Temple plays in the Linc. They could all buy those stadiums some day too, but they wouldn't be the same size, as the fans for the NFL games are much larger.
I know of the baseball stadium that a baseball team played in, left, and Georgia St is taking it over. You said the stadium will be a Georgia St renovated football stadium that seats 33,000 all chair back in 2018. I say that won't happen. 1. It's too expensive for an FBS start up program to get done.2. There is no need for it; doesn't make sense with the fan base/support.

Cheers!

I'll wait until the 2018 season. Although you do have Memphis in 2017. That should be a record crowd. 23,000?

Cheers!

Pretty sure we sell out game one although that would be like our 4th or 5th largest crowd ever.

Your first game in the Georgia Dome was probably over 30,000. I'm just guessing as that place is huge and the new buzz around the program probably got butts in the seats. We shall see what happens but I'm guessing Memphis will be the mostly highly attended game of the season.

Cheers!
