If you consider Nashville local to Memphis, maybe we should change the rules.
Yes, Vaughn was Finch's nephew, but he still played 300 miles away.
Come to think of it, DaJuan Wagner was Milt's son. Since Milt was on staff, should he be "local" too?

Most of the black kids on that 81-86 group used something slightly shiny on their hair for national TV games. That always told me they came to play.

Don't think that's much of a comparison. Milt and Arthur Barclay were brought in to get Dajuan. Finch had been the coach here for about 5 years. No need to get all upset about it.

I think he was from Memphis although he transferred in from St Louis. Didn't he go to Douglas High ?
He's originally from Memphis. Don't recall which high school.
Ah.
My memory ain't what it used to be but Douglass just sound right for Willie; used to have near photographic memory. Google doesn't help if you rely on it.
Willie was originally at Kingsbury, transferred to Douglas around 75 or so.

Well the OP actually said out-of-state, so Nashville...
To me, it's more about big-time players without ties to Memphis and not from the area. Vaughn, Carney don't count because they had ties to Memphis. Lee, Parks don't count because they are in the area dominated by the Tigers. Wagner obviously counts because we brought in his dad and his BFF to get him.

Outside of one small town in Missouri about 95% of our players not coached by Calipari have come from about a 50 mile radius of the city. Dennis Isbell was from Blytheville I believe.

Q: What do Anthony Rice, Wesley Witherspoon and Angel Garcia have in common?
A: They were all talented recruits who weren't from Memphis yet played for the Tigers. They were also recruited by JOHN CALIPARI.
Get bent out of shape over it you baby

I don't think it was 95% under Pastner. And I don't think it will be with Tubby either. So I think that % is high for the modern era.
