MAC will have ZERO November Saturday football games next season
Anyone else do a double take when the MAC released its 2017 schedule last week? Even for a league that long has sold out to TV — prioritizing dollars over sense in putting the whims of network executives in endless need of cheap programming above the interests of its fans and student-athletes — the weeknight overload felt like a new level of betrayal.

For the first time, a MAC team will not play a single Saturday game in November. Toledo will host a school-record low three Saturday dates all year.

FWIW I did google their schedule for next season, assuming the writer is accurate.

There was only 2 of 21 Saturday games last year (2016) and past years were similar. This is fairly normal. Once you have your schedule thrown off by playing on a Wednesday/Thursday after a bye-week, it is hard to go back to a Saturday game and easiest to just play every game thereafter during the week at 1-week intervals. I'm sure basketball players everywhere are laughing at some people freaking out about this.

MAC is used to this. Every November game will be on National TV, most as the only CFB game on TV that day.

MAC Football:
September - Road games on National TV at Cartel5 Conferences stadiums
October - Most games on TV via CBS Sports Network, ASN, Regional TV sports channels, some ESPN3
November - Every game on National TV via ESPN

This is what we do folks, its nothing new, its called #MACtion...

Yep, and it's getting worse. NIU has 2 Saturday games at home this year. By the team the ESPN deal is over with the fanbases will be decimated.

Gotta me honest, I love me some Tuesday/Wednesday night MACtion. The more televised college football, the better.

RE: MAC will have ZERO November Saturday football games next season
It's good for big college football enthusiasts, but for "home base", Tues/Wed/Thurs games isn't so hot. It basically tells those who don't live in the city of said campuses "Don't travel out to see our games". It has it's pluses & minuses, though.

PLUS SIDE: It gets exposure and one has to say "Well, how many Would on Saturday?" while giving one more opportunity To see the games. It actually has potential to make the country "MAC Aware" and to turn non-fans who are, say, B1G fans in the geographic area or alumni who don't care and follow regional B1G teams -- to at least be mild fans where they wouldn't... while everyone else becomes more aware of the conference and it's race -- and exposure to the Top Team who's usually vying for a ranking at least.

NEGATIVE SIDE: You're taking away the tailgating & such for Saturday games. Yeah, it's not huge for many of the teams, but for some, it certainly can and has been solid. Going to those gets people in the spirit of things, and instead, "MAC football just isn't on during regular college football". MSU/UM fans who went to CMU/WMU, instead of going to a WMU or CMU game that's not on at the same time as a big MSU or UM game, or is overlapping during a "blah" game of that variety -- they're not paying attention. WMU/CMU doesn't resonate with "College Football" when it comes up for the big day of Saturday. "OH, that's right, they played on Tuesday..." Having the occasional is one thing -- but Too much for too long has it's drawbacks. The Potential to grow a fan-base when getting Isolated time is questionable. It gives avid CFB fans something to watch and will bring more awareness, but doesn't seem to do more than that.

Now, if they forced it on ABC every Tues & Wed -- then I'd say OH, hell yes. :)
