Several other posters have received confirmation from seemingly reliable sources as well. As a booster I would not personally be interacting with players or their parents, but I also received confirmation from someone who does speak to both regularly.
For you doubters demanding names, expecting someone in or affiliated with the program to agree to put their name on something with this kind of stink is about as delusional as MD believing Frazier is trying to sabotage NIU Athletics.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't care if it happened or not as long as the players and coaches have grown and moved on from it. It's gossip........ It's not sports. We don't talk politics on this page, we talk sports. Remember this thread was once a bad leak about a bad rumor that didn't happen of Jordan Lynch as RB coach. Still hasn't happened. Spring football starts the 21st. Hopefully we'll be talking football again......
That's the problem, I think it does impact the play on the field. Not, necessarily that incident, but the fact Carey's interpersonal skills that led to the incident impact a variety of things every day. From not getting the best recruits to not convincing players to follow their roles or assignments.
I'm not going to go all Maddawgz and say the players are quitting, but it is having an impact on the results.
Also, I like probably many other posters have worked in an environment with a toxic formal leader and can tell you it most definitely impacts s energy and effort level. If your thoughts are consumed with what an a hole that person is you are not focusing on your work to the extent you should be.
The 2015-16 upper class men were all non-Carey recruits. They're gone. They may not have been on board with his hard-ass edge. The 13,14,15,16,17 kids all chose Carey to be their coach. That's not to absolve Carey of that chip on his shoulder, but I think the notion of team/coach conflict is from bygone players and is in the past.

I sure hope you're right. We'll find out this season. Unfortunately I have no confidence that Carey will do anything but continue the downward trend. I would love to be wrong.

I think the free fall is over. This regime is a 6 to 8 win a season with + or - 1 game on really good or bad years. We need to forget the 2012-13 seasons but also forget 2016. If you set your goal at a MAC title, you should be in the running right up to the end of the season. That makes for enjoyable football to me.
There also seemed to be some bad vibes among the coaching staff that resulted in what looks to be a weak 2016 recruiting class. The good news is that whether due to a substantially new staff or a new approach or both they pulled in a great looking 2017 class and have a fantastic start to the 2018 class. I think the arrow is pointed up.
