and to think that had the Broncos managed to hang on up in dismal flats, they would be tied for the division lead....... 03-banghead

But - it is all there to be taken. These next few games are huge. Start by beating EMU. 05-mafia

Watched that one. Very entertaining game. Kent played much better than I expected, I'm sure due to the rivalry. Despite a down year for them, this win must feel really good to them. Knocking off their rival on the road.

As for the Broncos, not a bad time to be stringing together their best streak of the season. Let's see them continue to play better. Love to see them bring EMU down with a thud and notch their fourth straight win.

RE: Saturday's Pink double header
In MAC action today, I may have to choke down disgust and root for CMU. I know...... 03-puke But today is the great "re-shuffling day" in the west division. Standings should look dramatically different after today.

Bowling Green at Ohio (-9)
Miami at Buffalo (-12.5)
Ball St. at Central Michigan (-2)
Eastern Michigan at Western Michigan (-2)
Toledo (-1) at Northern Illinois

RE: Saturday's Pink double header
The team looked pretty solid today in notching a season high 4th straight win over an EMU team doing their usual swoon under Murphy.

Of course, CMU didn't defend home court against Ball State, losing 109 - 100 in OT.

So the total absurd reshuffling will have to wait until somebody knocks off the Cards. Here is Ball State's remaining schedule:

2/21 E Michigan
2/25 @W Michigan
2/28 @Toledo
3/3 N Illinois

So for the standings, now we have;

Ball St 8 - 6 and 17 - 10 W2
Toledo 7 - 7 and 14 - 13 W1
Western 7 - 7 and 11 - 15 W4
Central 6 - 8 and 16 - 11 L3
N. Illinois 6 - 8 and 14 - 13 L4
Eastern 5 - 9 and 13 - 14 L6

Hawk made a really good point in an interview shown at halftime. Bronco fans and basketball fans are missing out if they don't come to watch Thomas Wilder. He will go down as one of the best to ever play at Western, yet it is a quiet greatness. He is humble and not one to draw attention to himself. Hawk says he respects the game.

I agree. Watch him while you can. He is a unique talent and his time here is almost 3/4 gone.

Broncos are putting it all together at the right time. Nobody will mistake them for a powerhouse, but for me considering where I thought this group might finish, this is remarkable. It might be one of Hawk's better coaching jobs if they can win this weak and parity ridden division.

Which West team would you not want to play in the MAC tournament?

RE: Saturday's Pink double header
They're looking better together.

The Broncos down the stretch have;

2/21 @Toledo
2/25 Ball State
2/28 @ N Illinois
3/3 C Michigan

Go through the division to win the west. They started today with Eastern. One down, four to go. 05-mafia

RE: Saturday's Pink double header
Watched this one in person as well last weekend...

Wilder wasn't his usual self (shooting-wise) but Tucker sure made up for it. We had some clear freshman lapses and allowed a couple bad runs, but overall I'd say this young team is clearly developing and improving. Crazy that we're still in a position to win the division.

Regardless of what kind of end-of-season run we make this year, I think we're going to be pretty special next season.

And really we're doing it without the one guy that I was most excited about a couple years ago. Someone I know chatted up Larry Farmer at the gas station back then, and Farmer RAVED about Josh Davis' potential...I mean Farmer was giddy.

Also, having someone in a close-knit group like this be involved in an armed robbery that resulted in a homicide...that would shake any group. This team seems to have done a fantastic job working through and processing that mess (or they put it off and will deal with it later in therapy). Overall, I did NOT see this winning streak coming this year.

BIG game Saturday!

Josh Davis has become almost a non-contributor. If he doesn't bust into the starting lineup by next season they should use that scholy to bring in some more talent.

Josh seems to me to be suffering from a lack of confidence. Not a lot of minutes, not a lot of contributions - yet. With kids transitioning to D1 college ball, often all it takes is that one game where things go right for you and you realize that I really CAN play at this level. The light bulb goes on and the rest, as they say will be history.

The results aren't there for Josh just yet. Give it time. The young man is supposed to be quite a player. Just taking him a while to get it started. No need to throw him under the bus because we don't like his timetable.

Next year he's a junior and expectations go up. As it is, he's been bypassed by younger players.

How long are you willing to wait for a player to show he's ready to contribute? We only have 4 years-maybe 5 in rare cases. In my view if a player doesn't show something by his Junior year he's never going to.

If Tava had stuck around for one more season we could have given JD a redshirt season ala Shayne Whittington to build up his strength, but Tava is gone and we don't have that luxury.
