From what I understand, Carroll is similar to Cockrell. Soft throwing righty that doesn't walk anyone.

I'd be a surprised if a kid that is as big as Carroll didn't add a little velocity in the next year or two.

I've actually heard from a good source that Carrol is 87-90. That's not a soft tosser. About average D-1 velocity.

I was going off what Munz said in the live chat. Said he was 84-86.

We will find out soon enough. I don't care if he throws 75 as long as he hits his spots and doesn't walk batters. Good pitchers trust their defense and don't give free bases.

If we signed a pitcher that threw 75 I'd never go to another game. I don't care if you can hit a mosquitos tail from a mile away. If you throw 75 you're not getting many people out in major college ball. I know you were exagerarating. I'm just saying.

Cody Carroll throws from a three quarter slot that helps create real nice run and some sink on his fastball. Also has a nice curve from the same arm slot. Carroll was 85-86 on the gun the scrimmage I was at. Kid has a big frame and will add Mph as he get older and fills out. With sprained strength will come more spin on his curve as well. Nice starter with good upside.

Do knuckleballers count? Wakefield's fastball topped out at 75.

No knuckleballers don't count. I never actually remember seeing a true knuckleballer (threw it almost every pitch) in college. Most of the time in the big leagues they are guys who converted from being a conventional pitcher because they weren't very good.
