Also, whoever was downplaying Middle Tennessee before this weekend doesn't know much history. Middle has been good historically in baseball. Not sure why GS thought they would sweep them. That's laughable. UL got off on the wrong foot with that hitting performance. But the pitching was what we expected. On to day 2.
MTSU is not picked to finish that high in CUSA so I for one was hoping for a better showing against them. If we can pick up the series win today that will be great consolation prize.

Troy is up 3-1 on Xaiver in the 6th

A tied 2-2 series would be pretty solid against the defending Big East Champs.

GS wins game 3 8-5. Not a great start, but at least won the series without Evan Challenger.

Jags beat EIU today 8-3 to go to 3-0 on the year. No idea if this series really means anything.

Hitting wise, not much. They are a very weak pitching team. Pitching on the other hand was impressive overall. EIU was a decent hitting team last year (.280). They return most of their lineup. We'll get a better test against Baylor next weekend.

More runs than Joey Jones can score in points in two football games.

(Not trying to knock South's football, I know we couldn't score that many runs even against EIU.)

App State gives up two in the bottom of the ninth to #24 UNCW and loses 6-5. Apps lead three different times and couldn't hold off the Seahawks on their home field.

The football team was at that game. I'm sure they were taking notes.

Right. I don't care if there was a pitching machine out there, that's a bunch of runs.

I know. Just trying to keep my optimism in check. Next week will be more telling.
