Baseball stadiums will really cut down the attendance of that game. Keep it in a football stadium.
I wonder if we'll be hearing about the new TV contract as that expires next year. Perhaps during the summer?

Agreed about baseball stadiums, but the main point is that there are at least 2 new bidders beyond Philly, Baltimore, DC, & East Rutherford.

I have little confidence that the game will be in Fenway. Cost of transporting the entire Brigade & Corps is usually the most significant limiting factor.

I can't imagine playing a football game in that bandbox at Fenway, anyway.

Have some friends that went to the Notre Dame-BC game in Fenway and they said it was awful. Sight lines were pathetic and the field wasn't in good shape.

GO NAVY!

DEAR FRIENDS,

THERE IS AN OMNIPOTENT TROLL NAMED "p23570" WHO IS ATTACKING THE BOARD IN WAYS I HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE.

THIS GUY MAKES BIG EAST HOMER LOOK LIKE THE POPE.

I AM ASKING YOU ALL TO PUT ASIDE YOUR DIFFERENCES, SAVE YOUR BATTLES FOR A LATER DAY, AND COME TOGETHER.

IMAGINE A SMART VERSION OF BIG EAST HOMER WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS A LITTLE ABOUT FOOTBALL, AND PERHAPS MORE VICIOUS.

HE MAY NOT HAVE A THOUSAND USERNAMES LIKE BEH (Tigersmoke, Phil Lacio etc etc etc) BUT HE IS MUCH MORE DANGEROUS.

WE NEED TO STICK TOGETHER. SIMPLE. WE SHALL CODE NAME p23570 the following: C3-PO. WE SHALL MAKE A MOCKERY OF THIS TROLL.

IF ANYONE SEES p23570 (AKA C3-PO) REPORT HIM AND REFER TO HIM AS THIS CODE NAME.

THANK YOU ALL.

What's the skinny on this? Will it be part of the AAC contract? I'm bringing it up because Navy publicly called out Boise for demanding extra media dollars.

Cheers!

Denying Boise and letting the MWC create their disproportionate revenue system was one of the best decisions ever made.

The MWC still hasn't recovered.

No they haven't but more to the point: Is Navy going to get a Boise sweetheart deal themselves?

Cheers!

For the sake of clarity - the "contract" highlighted by NavyHusker in this thread is the bidding for cities to host the Army Navy game for 2018 and beyond. This is not TV/media deal. Money from site contracts for neutral site Army or Notre Dame games won't be conference money anymore than ticket sales at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.

As far as TV-media beyond the currently contracted, there is no reason at this time to think that anything other than Navy rights being a part of the AAC conference rights will happen. I'm curious why you seem to want to think the worst, like the mwc trolls who come through here?

I think the status will be readily apparent as re-negotiation gets underway -- TV rights for the Navy home games for the 2018 and 2019 seasons plus Army-Navy game for '19 are Aresco's hook for pushing ESPN to extend and up the current contract. The homegames will include Houston-Navy, Memphis-Navy, Temple-Navy, USF-Navy and more - those four matchups on ESPN networks in the 15-16 seasons averaged 1.5 million viewers, or between the average viewership of rated AAC games and the average viewership of rated PAC12 & BigXII games.
Either the American gets an extension and raise overall, or those can test the waters of the open market.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Army-Navy game as an "ala carte" item, with Army and Navy/AAC all at the negotiating table. That doesn't mean not part of the AAC portfolio and revenue stream (for odd-numbered Navy "home" years), just probably beneficial negotiation. And again, if it doesn't get settled early with a big enough number, can get a good indication of market value.
