Meet somewhere in between and you've got DLR. But right now....eh, he is a poor poor man's Mac center.

That was the first KSU/UA game at the JAR maybe since the Hipsher days I attended where there were big chunks of empty seats. Hard to believe people can't get behind a team that's won 30-straight and 21 overall wins playing a rival.
It was SO MUCH like this team to go over there and punk them like that. You could see it coming. This team has as much talent on the court and on the bench (coaching) as any in the league but for whatever reason it just hasn't gotten on a roll. If they go to NY Tuesday night and win, the MAC will take notice.

Coaches have to get a ton of credit for this win. I really liked our gameplan on their bigs. I know we've went to a 4 guard lineup at numerous points this year but we normally start 2 bigs. In this one we started 4 guards and put Edwin on Cheatham. Basically we challenged Cheatham to beat us in the post which he couldn't do. It was a risky call because it could've resulted in Edwin getting in foul trouble but it worked out well. Seems like it really kept Cheatham from getting comfortable.
I was also surprised with how we guarded Johnson and how well it worked out. Instead of doubling him and leaving a shooter open Hall fronted him. When they got it to him he could've caught it and gone straight to the basket but he didn't he let Hall recover every time and by this point he wasn't very deep so he had to try to bull his way in. I have to imagine the coaches didn't believe Johnson had the foot speed to get to the basket before we could recover and they were right. Hall did a pretty solid job of leaning on him and not letting him get as deep as he normally does as well.
You can bet Dambrot will adjust next game so hopefully we can stay a step ahead of him.

good read anti - zip, thanks.
I thought Jimmy Hall's hands were on display in this one, particularly on the defensive end. He used his hands very well while avoiding cheap fouls.

Great win @ the JAR, broke the streak, and have nice momentum headed into the final games of the regular season and MAC Tournament.

Totally agree with the tactic to shut down Cheatham. Edwin was/is very tenacious, and got to Cheatham. I also chuckled when the ESPN announcers once noted that Cheatham may have an opportunity in the NBA. Time will tell, but I don't see it.

Yeah that was pretty funny, I almost sprained an eyeball I rolled them so hard at that one...

Ah yes, the token "watch out for this guy at the next level" comment from play by play guys of Mid Major games. These were the same play by play announcers, of course, who credited the Mid Atlantic Conference with being balanced and full of rivalries. But I guess anymore if Louisville and ND are are in the ACC and Creighton is in the Big East, why can't Kent State, Akron and Northern Illinois be in the Mid Atlantic!
