We're actually trying to get Watauga County to secede from NC and form its own state. Appalachia.

We'd have an easier time resurrecting the State of Franklin.

ULM has much bigger issues to face when looking at their latest financial report completed by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor.

They had a whopping $104,153 in football ticket revenue....which was actually $266 less than men's basketball ticket revenue. Total revenue for the year ending June 30, 2016 was a measly $14,659,574. They were paid $3,298,000 for guaranteed football games against Georgia, Alabama, Tulsa, and Hawaii.

104,000 in football ticket revenue. How is that even possible? 64,000 people supposedly watched ULM football in Monroe that year. What do they charge for tickets? I'm missing something. Sure, some are students....but even assuming HALF of the people there are ULM students and get free tickets...are we to believe that the AVERAGE paid ticket price for ULM is 3 dollars per ticket?

However, if you look at the non-subsidized cost of all athletics at each of our schools (not just football), you see the following (for 2014-15)

UTA - Revenue 12.5 Subsidy 8.9 Implied Net Revenue 4.4
UALR - Revenue 9.5 Subsidy 6.7 Implied Net Revenue 2.8
ULM - Revenue 13.0 Subsidy 4.5 Implied Net Revenue 7.5
USA - Revenue 28.1 Subsidy 16.9 Implied Net Revenue 11.2
Ark St - Revenue 29.2 Subsidy 14.0 Implied Net Revenue 15.2
ULL - Revenue 23.4 Subsidy 8.7 Implied Net Revenue 14.7
Troy - Revenue 27.0 Subsidy 20.4 Implied Net Revenue 7.4
Ga St - Revenue 28.9 Subsidy 20.9 Implied Net Revenue 8.0
Ga So - Revenue 21.1 Subsidy 12.8 Implied Net Revenue 8.3
App - Revenue 29.7 Subsidy 20.5 Implied Net Revenue 9.4

http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/finances/

Subsidy is calculated by adding or subtracting any gain or loss from revenue vs expenses and adding/subtracting that from the subsidy. ULM is claiming unsubsidized net revenue of about 7.5 a year.

I'm a bit skeptical of how you've characterized the Lousiana Auditor's Report. Do you have a link to it.

They charge more for tickets, but for some people, they have to pay them to come to the game

We charge $25 for general admission. We are way over priced.

Yea, the OP didn't make a lot of sense IMHO. If the poster's assertion is to be believed, ULM would have sold no more than 4,200 football tickets at 25 dollars during the entire year. And that's not including tickets that are more than 25 dollars a ticket.

What auditor's report are they referring to.

ULM has a crummy budget to be sure, but this hit on you guys just doesn't add up.

EDIT. That being said, there's a lot in the news reports of the audit report (I cant find the actual report) that is troubling. It looks like the practice of comping tickets is widespread at ULM, that the Athletic Department might not be counting all the money for ticket sales properly, and that non-ULM personnel might be getting some benefits. My guess is that much of that goes in other places as well. http://www.thenewsstar.com/story/sports/.../95646232/

I found the audit report here, I think.... https://app.lla.state.la.us/PublicReport...011D67.pdf

I still can't find the 104k football ticket sales number.

I provided the link (here it is again)

Page 12 of the report (15 of the actual PDF) shows the statement of revenues and expenses. The first line of the revenue section is Ticket sales by sport. Football had $104,153 of ticket sales. Men's basketball had $104,419. All other sports had $60,362.

Ok..so there''s that. But seeing as the same auditors found around 600,000+ of ticket receivable revenue either with the foundation or with the contractor (with whom they are fighting with), then the implication that they only sold 104k worth of tickets is probably misleading. It does look like there is a control problem and probably a contracting one as well, but My guess is that the real number is much higher than 104k, but is still pretty low.

Watauga and Franklin, overlooked aspects of American history.
