This is similar to the Johnny Dawkins situation. Gottfried just didn't win enough. However, he is in a LOADED conference and this man led NC State to TWO Sweet 16s and TWO Second Round finishes. It's a zero sum game. Not every ACC coach (no matter how good they are) is going to survive.

Contrast Gottfried's NCAA tournament record with Lebo's who has NEVER (not once) made the NCAA tournament as a Head Coach in his near 20 years...

Gottfried also has relationships in ECU's recruiting territory.

Gottfried's .639 winning percentage in the ACC trumps Lebo's .491 winning percentage in the AAC.

Ewwww... I felt dirty even typing Lebo's winning percentage..

RALEIGH, North Carolina --
NC State coach Mark Gottfried's tenure in Raleigh is likely coming to an end following the season, unless the Wolfpack go on a run over the next few weeks and in the ACC tournament, sources told ESPN.

"He could be gone this week, if they get pounded by North Carolina tomorrow night," one source close to the situation told ESPN on Tuesday night.

ABC11 broke the story first earlier this week. RELATED: Sources say NC State will part ways with Gottfried at season's end

Quick question: I believe your last 5 new thread post are centered on ECU. What gives?

You lost to ECU. Doesn't matter how bad, you lost to ECU.

Beating Temple this year is not a sign of excellence. Temple is 5-9 in conference. 14-13 overall.

You're pretty stupid, aren't you. You can admit it, we all know it already. If you had any intelligence whatsoever, you would have quickly realized that my statement was not about ECU accomplishment in beating Temple, but Temple's patheticness in losing to ECU.

Just sick of this guys constant attacks on the ECU fan base. He has a history of it. Every now and then, trolls need to be put in their place.

All ECU fans have a personal history with BEH. Not that we wanted to. Have you not been called out by him yet? Lucky....
Cheers!

Two likely starters out for the season, two terrible seniors, poor recruiting and development especially with our bigs, overreliance on our true freshmen.

Simple.

Some were addressing topics that extended from last year to this year. Such as... Compher's "Vote of Confidence" in Jeff Lebo... ECU's perpetual implosion to the most snake bitten program in the AAC (and sub 10 win team) USF... And, possible candidates that can dig that program out of the sewer.

Those are all distinct topics that are 'hot button' issues right now given that basketball (and more specifically the AACs excellence in basketball) is a focus of the board, with Jon Rothstein churning out rumors of how content UConn is.

Whether you want to believe it or not, I give ECU their due when ECU does good things.

I'm not the only one that burned ECU over firing Ruff... only to bring in a coach of Montgomery's caliber.

I'm also not saying anything controversial about Lebo. This is a sports board. If you don't want Lebo to be talked about then stop defending a moribund program that makes it harder for your conference mates to thrive.

DEAR FRIENDS,

THERE IS AN OMNIPOTENT TROLL NAMED "p23570" WHO IS ATTACKING THE BOARD IN WAYS I HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE.

THIS GUY MAKES BIG EAST HOMER LOOK LIKE THE POPE.

I AM ASKING YOU ALL TO PUT ASIDE YOUR DIFFERENCES, SAVE YOUR BATTLES FOR A LATER DAY, AND COME TOGETHER.

IMAGINE A SMART VERSION OF BIG EAST HOMER WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS A LITTLE ABOUT FOOTBALL, AND PERHAPS MORE VICIOUS.

HE MAY NOT HAVE A THOUSAND USERNAMES LIKE BEH (Tigersmoke, Phil Lacio etc etc etc) BUT HE IS MUCH MORE DANGEROUS.

WE NEED TO STICK TOGETHER. SIMPLE. WE SHALL CODE NAME p23570 the following: C3-PO. WE SHALL MAKE A MOCKERY OF THIS TROLL.

IF ANYONE SEES p23570 (AKA C3-PO) REPORT HIM AND REFER TO HIM AS THIS CODE NAME.

THANK YOU ALL.
