Time for a change
I respect coach Murphy and think he's done some good things at EMU (any coach that beats Michigan gets a few bonus points in my book) but I think the time for change is now. His system depends heavily on talent to win. It seems that Eastern lacks the ability to out strategize or outsmart an opponent. Compound that now with the lack of energy and enthusiasm on the team and the wheels have fallen off. Once that happens it's extremely difficult to bounce back and put it together again. A team with above-average talent like Eastern, a team that was the preseason pick to win its division, should not lose seven of eight games during the heart of its season.
There may be a few of you that are excited about a few transfers sitting on the bench or the potential to sign another Juco point guard, but we've been down that road before and look at where it's gotten us. Mediocrity will only continue.
Hopefully Lyke is paying attention and has seen the dwindling crowds. It's time for her to put some life back in this program.
It's time for change. Now.

Agree 1000x.
Murphy does not have the ability to make in game adjustment.
This is a talented team but his coaching has sucked the life out of the program.
I will give him credit for bringing in talented players.

RE: Time for a change
One thing, Nickle.
Fans tend to get ahead of things. The season has 4 weeks or a month to go. While I understand the points you are making we still have the rest of this season to play out.
Whatever Lyke is or is not doing, she should have been doing all along. The biggest job of the College of Cardinals is to elect a Pope. One of the biggest jobs of an AD is to select new coaches esp. in FB and MBB (and WBB, too). She should always have an eye out if she needs to fill a vacancy in the critical coaching positions (e.g., if FB plays well in 2017, Lyke needs to be prepared if a school comes calling for CC).
No AD wakes up on March 15 (or March 5 or whenever the season ends) and says, "Guess I need to start looking for a new coach..."
The big thing, though, is not to make the season a lame duck season and waste the ends of the careers of the seniors and the season for fans.
We need to play this season out as if we have a real chance to make noise in the MAC tourney. If we fail badly in the MAC tourney, then things change dramatically the day after.

Steve, the only way not to waste the seniors season is to demote Murphy and give Brown a chance. It can't get any worse...

That's not going to happen, no matter how many times you say it. Murphy is finishing the season.

Unfortunately for all of us, Murphy is staying until at least the end of the season. I think if Lyke had the guts to make a move, she would have done it 4 or 5 games ago. My opinion has been to fire him since the Kent loss. There is way too much talent on this team to be a bottom cellar in the conference. It is downright embarassing

No way does an AD fire a BASKETBALL coach this late in the season.
In FOOTBALL it sometimes happens BECAUSE of the recruiting calendar with Dec. and Jan critical.
As far as recruiting, if Epps stays committed we have almost all of our 2017/18 team on the court or sitting out or committed.

RE: Time for a change
I do NOT know what is happening behind the scenes in the locker room, with the AD, etc. but this team looks dispirited, lifeless, etc.
I do remember, painfully, last year when I was on vacation and all the consternation about Murphy's future, turning down a possible post season bid, etc
I believe it was Luckey who brought it up and apparently had inside info that Murphy is not Lyke's desired head coach.
