Dining Recs for Downtown Cincy
Hey Guys;

i will be returning to Cincy for business next week and wanted to pick up some dinner recs for downtown and the vicinity. Will be ubering to and fro so nothing too far out. i am looking into the Eagle but i would appreciate any additional recs. i will be on Main Street between 8th and 9th. All suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

Both Salazar and Sotto. A little pricey but well worth it. Believe me you cannot go wrong at either.

If you have a 'casual night' I'd recommend Knockback Nats their smoked wings are amazing.

Taft Ale House offers some good brews and excellent food.

Nothing fancy but very good.

Taft is quite good.

If you want to spend money...hit Ruby's.

Passing on Rubys. Have a budget so a dinner there means tap water and vitamins for a good portion of the rest of the trip. A lot of the brewery stuff does interest me though.

Did Pontiac BBQ once right after they opened up and was unimpressed. For BBQ, get Elias' from Findlay Market and take it up the street to Rhinegest.

Here's another option Kruegers Tavern. Been there a few times and always pleased with food & service.

If I ever had to stake my reputation on one food recommendation it would be the poutine at Senate. Just had it again for the wife and I's Valentine lunch date. That stuff is last meal good.

That's disappointing to hear about Pontiac. The pics looked pretty good. i tend to be a Smoked Brisket guy. i eat it by the pound with a little salt and pepper (no sauce). That was the big drawback with Eli's for me.

Eli's is excellent but I have had some good meals at Pontiac too.

Eli's is carryout only. You can sit down at Pontiac. Big difference.

I liked Pontiac the one time I went there. Eli's is better, but no complaints about Pontiac. I'm not a huge fried chicken person, but The Eagle is still amazing. I still love the tacos and queso at Bakersfield and the hot dogs at Senate. Love a short rib grilled cheese down at Moerlein Lagerhouse or the seafood Bisque at Washington Platform (good wings as well). We've done apps at Kruegers and I hear the burgers are great but haven't had one yet.

Blinkers on 3rd Street in Covington (just over the Roebling) is one of the better steaks I've ever had. Mac and Cheese is phenomenal too.

Salazar, Zula and Anchor are all within 100 yards of one another around the corner of Race and 13th. Hands down they are our three favorites in town.

Say you're coming to Cincinnati and people send you to freaking Covington for dinner? Come on. All of the OTR spots listed are better than Blinkers (which is fine).

Covington has a lot of new restaurants that are one the same level as the ones in OTR.

Lisse, The Commonwealth, Frida all in Mainstrasse Village. The food is just as good as the places in OTR and the waits are a lot shorter.

Eroc, since you'll be ubering, these places in Covington would take you about 10 mins to get too. Not sure if you enjoy beers/breweries but if you do cross the river Hotel Covington on Madison washed down with a pint from Braxton is truly an enjoyable experience.
