Close.

Time for change.

Agree....Like football we need to hire a coach with no gimmicks but understands the fundamentals and can recruit our area. I have never seen a coach accomplish so little with so much talent.

I think all of us are shocked and disappointed over what we have seen over the past say five weeks the sad part is Murphy and crew seem to have no clue on how to right the ship Murphy big chance to move on may mean he never rises above being an assistant college basketball coach

I would think so.

The sad thing is that a 'warm' seat tends to make things worse not better.

Just looking at Murphy on the bench he does not look like a happy camper.

I'm afraid this will not end well for either he or the team.

As I have said many times, when a coach is fired or non-renewed that is a failure. Failures are not good things.

Our season will be over in a month and we'll see what the March winds bring...

It's a shame that we somehow went from 4-1 and finding ways to win, to 5-8 and finding ways to lose. This team has lost all of its confidence. I see Raven had another rough night, as did Timmy.

Murphy's words are likely growing thin on these guys. Hard to stay motivated and perform when you keep losing. I hope they bounce back, because I'd never root for my team to lose. But it seems evident to me that a change is necessary.

Nobody on this team seems to be playing with any fire anymore. JT, as unfair of calls as he might be receiving in terms of Techs, just needs to learn to shut his mouth and play. Ray looks defeated, as he should for a guy who has been given no confidence this year and suspended multiple times. It took Willie 4 turnovers, 3 bad shots, an airball, and multiple defensive lapses to get anything going last night. Tim has not had a good solid block, steal, or dunk since he was on SC 7 weeks ago. Nobody looks like they want to play and Murphy sure as heck does not look like he wants to coach.

The biggest shock is Lee. He hasn't made a trey since Jan 24 and that seems like an eternity to me.

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketb...53/ray-lee

I am NOT blaming Lee or Murphy or the basketball gods, but when Lee goes 0 - 14 behind the arc (since Jan 28) we are in trouble. Lee is a senior, normally an excellent shooter who can carry the team on his back...

That would be like the Tigers not getting any wins from Verlander in 4 weeks. It hurts big time.

He can't wait for the season to be over. If you watch him after every and i do mean every no call he just stands there waves his arms looking at the ref for a second before getting back into the play of the game. It's dishearting to watch and jt is starting to get into that same mindset.

No doubt. This team looks like a team which has lost what 7 of the last 8.

Consider it a 'case study'...

Show me a D-I team which looks happy losing 7 of 8...

They look listless, defeated, etc.

so are WE. Hardly anyone showed at the game last night. Few posted here. It is getting more like a wake than a basketball season for the players and fans.

And again if you watch the team come onto the court wether it's at begining of the game begining of the second half. they dont come out with energy or as a team.

Just curious, Super. Are the women showing any life?

For the men, this is a yuge comedown from being considered the 2nd or 3rd best team in the conference to a team which is sinking fast.

Blaming Murphy on Lee's play is ridiculous. I'm not a fan of how Murphy has been coaching at all this year, but a 5th year senior shouldn't be getting suspended, and should be making the most out of his minutes. Raven looks to have regressed and lost confidence, but most of that is on him. Same with Willie, Thompson, and the others. At some point, the players need to hold themselves accountable.

Super, I see two DIFFERENT scenarios in WBB and MBB.

The women knew or should have known the deck was stacked against them. I could see it even though I'm 500 miles away. The team lost key talent before the summer started.

It was just fighting for pride and to be credible.

For MBB it is kind of like your worst nightmare. Expectation were very high and then things collapsed. That has to be demoralizing.

This isn't meant to be Psych 101, but expectations and whether they are met, exceed, or not met really influence happiness.

If a team expects to win 12 games wins 17. They feel very happy and probably optimistic about the future.

If another team expects to win 23 games but wins only 18 they are UNhappy, even though they won more game than the team with the modest expectations, and may have second doubts about their future.

i listened to the game last night but wasn't able to watch. how much time did Thompson play in the middle of the zone? given that he fouled out in 26 minutes, maybe he just isn't destined to play in the middle. this is a bummer, because he's more effective there than the baseline.

Game was messy with T's called for dubious reasons. If I remember right, JT4 got one on a play which was reviewed for at least 5 minutes (longest in memory). They finally decided to give one to each. Then JT4 got a T for saying something to a ref, after he fouled out (???).

"EMU #2 and OU #22 received technical fouls with 6:24 to go in 1st halfOU #22 fouled out with 7:04 to play in second half EMU #15 fouled out 16.7EMU #2 fouled out with 3:49 to play in second half, also got 2nd technicalOU #2 fouled out with 2:57 to play in second half, also got technical"

I hear you...

What I see next season:

JT4 and Steele in the middle. That is 10 fouls. If JT4 fouls out, Steele has to get it done.

Minnie, a possible star, at PF. Madray and LWH behind him.

Bond at SF with Groce, Harris, etc. behind Timmy.

P.J. at PG. I believe he is a true PG whereas some of our PGs haven't been.

SG: I'm not sure we have a TRUE SG for next season. I don't know if Harris is really a SG or a SF. SG to me is a big, big worry. Wide open for a JUCO like the one from Toney's JUCO who can shoot, shoot, shoot...

There's an indication of how bad EMU is. EMU should be an 8 point fav. I'd like to see EMU play focused for once. Doubt it'll happen though.
