What conference would their olympic sports join?
Big Sky would make sense maybe Summit. I have seen plenty of mentions of them joining AAC for football. This thread is not about that so assume they are . Where does basketball go in this scenario?

West Coast Conference or Missouri Valley. I doubt WAC because of the academic profile of that conference.

Why this question out of the blue? Has there been some scuttlebutt?

What would make a good regional conference for Air Force would be...

Air Force
Arkansas State
Colorado State
Louisiana Lafayette
New Mexico
New Mexico State
North Texas
Rice
Texas State
UTSA
UTEP
Wichita State

Why would they do that?

The Academies have a separate TV contract from their conferences with CBS. There is zero financial benefit. Their current schedule plays the four schools most important to them: Army, Navy, Wyoming, Colorado State. They would give up two of those. Their basketball would downgrade from playing in large arena basketball, and they would no longer be in a western conference for All Sports, and likely be in a conference with lower non-football distributions. I see no upside here.

Come on guys, drink your coffee before you post stuff like this.

Well a little bit with all the Mountain schools. But not as much as the Colorado schools (Wyoming is close to the border, like West Virginia is to Pittsburgh; the three schools, CSU, AF, Wyoming are collectively known as the front range). Hawaii is also important to the Academies with Pearl Harbor, so playing there every four years (rotation with west division) means every class gets a game on the Islands. San Diego is also an important stop, with the Marine corp base. As a mountain rivalry you can throw in New Mexico which is really part of the Colorado zone, not to mention recent arrivals Boise State and Utah State. Army and Navy are built in, no matter where they are. This is as close to a perfect home as they could ask for.

BYU and Utah left the MWC. BYU is more focused on the Utah rivalries (Utah, Utah State, and nearby Boise State), while Utah is pretty full with a P12 slate, USU and often a BYU game. So those AF games are pretty much dead.
