If that is not good enough, what does it take? Steve had a great pro career but that should not be the factor that determines who gets such an honor.

Epperson is UT's all-time leader in points (2,016); rebounds (960), career field goals (786) and career field goals attempted (1415) and is third in field goal percentage (.555).

He should have his jersey retired by now.

I was thinking these same things after they introduced Ken on the court during the game. I mean, we announce that he's the men's leading scorer and rebounder, and we're trying to recruit his kid, and we haven't hung his jersey in the rafters yet. Bizarre.

And we have all-americans who haven't had their's retired either.

That would have been the perfect time to do it. It might have touched Jacob in very positive way.

Jacob Epperson is not the typical 4 star recruit. Most kids rated that high are immediate impact players, big time athletes or at least very advanced in their skills at an early age. Jacob is a player that will have a learning and growth curve. He has height and a feel for the game. He has some touch on the offensive end. However, he is thin and undeveloped muscularly. He isn't an explosive athlete and he is still developing his game. As an Australian he doesn't have a lot of experience playing against big athletic competition. His intrigue is that he is quickly picking up nuances of the game and growing into a more complete player. Plus, he plays for the #1 HS team in the country in front of all the big recruiting people and coaches. He's a kid with size who keeps improving and showing increasing ability to make plays. Should he come to UT don't expect immediate magic. Willie Jackson is more of an immediate impact player. Tre`shaun Fletcher will immediately look the part on the court. Logan Hill will be the highlight reel fan favorite guy and Dwayne Rose will come in looking like a future all-MAC player with the physical tools and game savvy. Epperson might have the highest ceiling-hence the rating-but it will be a process.
