SMU
UConn
@ Memphis
@ Cincy
East Carolina
Houston is projected at a mid-40s RPI with 3 wins and 2 losses. Mid-30s RPI with four wins and a loss to Cincy.
There's a chance but we have to earn it.

St.Mary's (assuming Gonzaga gets the WCC) has one of those. A10, MVC, MWC, Ivy will also have solid 2nd candidates. Probably 1 or 2 lower conferences get a bail out for a conference tourney upset.
Yeah, that kind of looks like 2.
Top 2 RPI teams in each:
CAA: UNC Wilmington 44th and College of Charleston 73rd
Ivy: Princeton 71st and Yale 108th
The CAA is much more likely than the Ivy League to get an at-large bid. What could help Princeton is that they're one of three teams undefeated in their conference. The other two are Gonzaga and Vermont.

Houston could have three games against Cincinnati and SMU. They need to win at least one, if not two to have any chance, let alone not losing again. This is a flawed team with limited depth and little inside game, so while Sampson has done a great job, it will be tough sledding. Hope I'm wrong. Go Coogs.

The problem is that their best win is over Rhode Island, another bubble team, as well as a couple bad losses to LSU and Harvard. The numbers are strong but the resume is lacking imo. Until they beat SMU or Cincinnati, it's a mute point. Yes, it's a mute point.

Is it "mute" because nobody says it out loud, or because they say it with the volume turned off?

I really doubt either the CAA or the Ivy League would get an at-large bid if their top team isn't their champion. Same goes for the MWC. Far more likely that the A10 and AAC get two at-large bids, with the WCC and MVC getting one each. That won't leave much room for anyone else, and would most likely mean the P6 get 30 at-large bids.

Umm, yeah, that was the joke. As opposed to a moot point.
