Women's Basketball vs Delaware
It's half-way through the first quarter ...

Score 12-3 ... not in our favor :(

Can anyone see the broadcast? Sound here, but no video!

Same here. Can't get the video to load. Dukes have fought back and now lead 14-12 at the end of the 1Q.

Got the video. I think they linked the audio link at the home page. At the top right you will see 3 icons with live stats on far right. Click on the far left one and the video will load. Dukes now on a great run. Up 19-12 w/ 8:30 left in 2Q.

Lady D's taking the Chickens to the woodshed now.

Sets up a HUUUUUGE game Sunday against current league leader, Elon, for what could be the #1 seed at the Convo in the CAAT in a few weeks.

3pm tip Sunday on TV.

RE: Women's Basketball vs Delaware
Complete demolition job by the Lady Dukes tonight. After a rough start halfway through the first quarter the Dukes put the squeeze on and just blew the doors off the Chickens. The second half was a complete beat down. Delaware scores 8 pts in the third quarter and 6 in the fourth. The Dukes D was stellar tonight, causing many turnovers and bad passes. Thought Tina was going to have a coronary a couple of times. Delaware only had 8 players dressed for the game for some reason.

Great crowd tonight and the Pep Band was in fine fettle as usual.

Big game vs Elon on Sunday. A lot at stake seeding wise come tournament time. Need a great crowd to show the Phoenix what a real crowd looks like, not like the 1500 full house crowd they had a Elon a few weeks ago!!

Will be there Sunday ROOTIN!!

One note on the video stream thing. Last week I had 3 devices going and on the first I was getting screen shots on the second no response when I was pressing play. The third was my sons phone which was showing the game fine. Normally I would watch the screen shots and keep refreshing the browser hoping that it would play and it usually doesn't work just give me a new screen shot. Since I knew the video would play because it was playing on sons iPhone I completely closed the browser and started over again and it worked. The last device I had to do it a few times but eventually I had the game on 3 screens until I started getting phone calls which broke the connection. FYI try leaving the site completely even dumping history and reloading when you're having problems. Let me know how it works.

RE: Women's Basketball vs Delaware
This team still has an outside shot of an At-large bid if they win out to the CAA final. Obviously 2 losses to Towson don't help things, and additionally a lack really good win is not good. Beating Elon twice and Wake could still be enough if they win out and lose in the CAA Final. Plus we do have a national reputation. Style points of wins may even come into play....

I'd say 50-50, or perhaps a little better if we won out to the CAA Final. Elon tomorrow will be one of our bigger challenges.

RE: Women's Basketball vs Delaware
That was one of the most fun...and funniest, in spots....games of the season. Also an instruction in truly bad coaching from Delaware's Tina Martin (IMNSHO) for reasons I'll get into in another paragraph. Real balanced playing from JMU, good teamwork, excellent passing. I like the mix that has Logan, Hailee, and Amber all on the floor at the same time. Also, Savannah played really well last night...seemed to be playing outside of herself, and didn't have the brace on her knee which made her much more mobile. Very good to see. Also nice to see the refs calling only the important stuff and not every little thing--there were only 22 fouls called in the entire game, both teams! And did everyone see the play where the Blue Hen was dribbling down the floor and was distracted by her own coach yelling at her? Logan (I think it was) politely stole the ball and took off with it! LMAO!

I think it might be time for Tina Martin to retire. That team just is not well coached or well conditioned. Here's why I say that. First of all, 5 players are carrying the load, though they had 8 dressed. (We had 9 and all played significant minutes). They were gassed just a few minutes into the third quarter and looked about to drop by the end of the game. Most of them were constantly looking at the bench to see what they should do next. To me, those things are all marks of poor coaching. Maybe Tina's just burned out.

I wasn't aware that a Phoenix wore shoes, or that it would take a whole crowd to do it.

When you shoe someone it's called a STOMPIN! That is why we want to shoe them.

Tina Martin retiring after 21 years at UD, and taking 15 years of **** trash talk from Deez Nuts. Good run Tina, & grats on retirement!

It's time.....she has given her heart and soul to Delaware women's basketball but it was easy to see the last couple of years that she was not as invested as she once was. I wish her well and will watch the coaching search with great interest. I cannot see Delaware promoting anyone from within so there will be some assistant coaches in the job hunt as well.

Here's what I wrote after the Delaware game up here:

Prophetic words?

I read on another board that her job was on the line anyway after a lot of complaints from players. Who knows what the impetus was. I do think she was badly burned out. Curious to see who they'll hire next, as most of the good ones already have been picked off.

RE: Women's Basketball vs Delaware
The Pep Band will certainly miss her. Some of the best games I saw were against Delaware at the Convo with the Pep Band razzing the team and Tina to no end.

Congrats to her on an outstanding career and I hope she enjoys her retirement.

As Orange to Purple noted above last year she seemed to be having difficulty with the team, getting them to focus and she seemed tired. I remember one spot in the game where the Delaware PG brought the ball up court and stopped in front of the Blue Hens bench and stared at Tina for about 10 seconds with a "what do you want me to do?" look on her face. Tina screamed something at her and then just turned and shook her head. At that point I was wondering if she and the team were on the same page.

In any case I hope she enjoys her retirement and it will be interesting to see who they bring in. Seems to be some turnover in the Delaware Athletic system these days, first the whole football thing and now Tina. Bit of an upheaval to say the least.

UD AD continues to clean house, I believe it is now up to 5 Head Coaches removed.

Wandered over to the Blue Hens message board yesterday to see what the Chicken fans were saying about Tina "retiring". General gist was that very few seemed to be sorry she was leaving. Seemed to be a lot of bad vibes among players and fans about her coaching style and how she related to the players.

Very strange.

On another WBB board I commented that the only time they were any good (that I remember) was when they had Delle Donne, and at that time it seemed like Elena was doing the actual coaching. That prompted someone to suggest that they hire Elena as their coach, but apparently NCAA rules prohibit that. Something to do with recruiting, apparently. And anyway, it's not known if Delle Donne is even interested in coaching.

Someone who is, and may be looking to get her foot in the door by recently coaching a championship 3 on 3, is Kara Lawson. If this is true, Delaware could be an ideal place for her to start. Her basketball IQ is through the roof (hell, her regular IQ is through the roof...she graduated magna from UT in management and finance!) and her competitive spirit is fierce. Rumor is that she may be getting tired of the peripatetic lifestyle demanded by ESPN, plus the massive layoffs at ESPN could be making her nervous...... She'd be a nightmare opponent for us, and I could imagine players wanting to play for her. Also, she's from northern VA, giving her an insight into that recruiting base.
