America's kids got more stupid in reading, math and science under Obama
Quote:American school kids became more stupid under the Obama administration, according to rankings released by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

They recently released the results of a worldwide exam administered every three years to 15-year-olds in 72 countries. The exam monitors reading, math and science knowledge.

Based on their findings, the United States saw an 11-point drop in math scores and nearly flat levels for reading and science.

The Land of the Free, Home of the Brave, fell below the OECD average – and failed to crack the top ten in all three categories.

In other words, thanks to the Obama administration’s education policies, kids in the Slovac Republic are more proficient in multiplication.

This CC stuff is not getting it done for the average kid. In fact? It is confusing as hell. I'm not going to say thought that it does not work great for some kids. I know personally one that excelled at the highest level using it. I think it should be included in the tool kit of teachers but only used on students that "get it". Everyone else is fine with the traditional methods.

One cannot get "more stupid" you are either born stupid or not. No policy would change that.

This, and when you're teaching something the majority of kids aren't going to understand it at least needs to be understandable to the adults at home who are helping them with their homework, I mean I was a A/B student in math and I have trouble helping my little siblings with this common core stuff simply because I don't understand the majority of the rules in CC.

I don't believe that stupid is an absolute but is a relative term, which in this case would have been used rather loosely in the linked article.

Now if we accept low IQ as a proxy of stupid, it is clear that there can be a continuum or scale of stupidity. Since there has been some research that concluded that IQ can be raised, it would seem logical that IQ can also degrade. Therefore, individuals who have had decreases in their IQ could be inelegantly referred to as more stupid.

Glad someone else thought this as well. Leads me to believe one thing, there's something fishy about those graduation rates and how they were achieved.

Research has shown that an IQ can in fact change in the early years of child development. Let's not pretend however that an IQ is any more accurate that the use of the term "stupid".

The bottom line here is that any given program can either help in learning or not. There is no policy that makes people "more stupid".

When one group of students spends 6 hours on reading, writing, and math and the next group of students spends 4 hours on reading, writing, and math, one hour on global warming, 30 minutes on sex ed, and 30 minutes on LGBT recruitment, the second group of students is indeed more stupid relative to first group after the 6 hours. So no, the individual students do not become more stupid after the 6 hours, but they come out more stupid relative to the other group, assuming both groups begin the 6 hours with the same level of intelligence. In other words, students learned less under Obama.

Yeah...Im glad I don't have to help any kid with this. I was bad enough in math using the traditional methods. This looks like a foreign language to me.

My mother experienced some of the BS that is going on now the last couple of years she was teaching. Suddenly it became more important to get the kids to pass a standardized test than to teach them what she felt they need to know. She hated the hell out those last years.

I have friends doing this now.

Here is the education of one teacher: She did all of her course work online, but didn't have to do student teaching. She was hired and has zero social skills. She is a kindergarten teacher.
