Pulling hard for Little Rock, though Mav doesn't lose often at home . . .

Our flaws may be finally catching up to us. No size, and we can't shoot free throws.

Maybe getting back home will fix some things, but there's not a thing we can do to fix any of that this year. Free throws are really uncoachable, it's a mental thing. Size can only be recruited.

We didn't exactly "light it up" from the charity stripe . . . Think we're hitting 60% for the season. We had a few breaks go our way down the stretch, otherwise that game could have gone either way.

I can't believe TXST is finally a contender even if it's in a five team race. I've waited since I started school there to see us matter. It's been almost 15 years.

That is a lot of crap. FTs is mostly about technique. You do the right techniques and you can make FTs on a consistent basis. And technique is definitely coachable.

Free Throws isn't just technique, it's mental. You have to have players who mentally are strong enough to do the same routine over and over again. Otherwise every single player in the NBA would be shooting 90 plus percent from the line.

Now only 1.5 games separating 1st (UTA) from 6th (Coastal).

I think the conference race will be much clearer next week. UTA (9-3) and Texas State (8-4(y'all seriously lost to UTRGV?)) travel to Georgia to face the GSU's (9-4). Meanwhile the Arkansas schools play each other and Coastal travels to Alabama.

Here's the standings:
UTA 9-3 / 19-6
Arkansas State 9-4 / 18-8
Georgia State 9-4 / 16-9
Georgia Southern 9-4 / 16-10
Texas State 8-4 / 15-9
Coastal Carolina 8-5 / 13-13
Troy 6-6 / 14-12
South Alabama 5-7 / 12-13
Louisiana 5-8 / 15-11
Little Rock 4-9 / 13-13
Appalachian State 3-10 / 8-16
ULM 1-12 / 7-19

UTA's RPI is still pretty solid. Any chance of an at-large bid you think? Or are the bad losses too bad?

RE: SBC Basketball Games for Saturday 2/11 and Monday 2/13
UTA has a chance to overcome the "bad losses" and get an at-large bid in the following scenario:

UTA wins out in the regular season and earning a regular season championship,

The RPI is no worse than 35,

The Mavs make it to the championship game of the SBC tournament and the loss is to the #2 team,

Texas State losses one game in the regular season and wins at least one game in the SBC tournament,

and Troy along with Coastal Carolina win two-three more games in the regular season.

A lot has to fall in place. UTA has one real quality win against Saint Mary's. The Texas-Austin win looks good by name only, as they are 10-15 this year. Arkansas State is the only other top 100 RPI win for the Mavs.

There also maybe backlash after last year's committee that had only Wichita State as the non-P5/A-10/AAC/Big East at-large. But anyone hoping the committee is courteous of anyone else is possibly living in a rose-colored-glasses world.

No, once the OOC play is in the books, there is little change if the conference had a good winning percentage, which the SBC did. After that, the formula of opponents winning percentage (50%) and schools winning percentage (25%) keep the conferences about where they were.

Better to win against average competition than lose to good ones as the remaining percentage is the opponents you played opponents winning percentage (25%). The conferences who built their rating on playing a bunch of guarantee games fall pretty quickly. The SBC didn't do that. They were about .500 against DI this year.
