That argument falls apart quickly when you realize that L'ville/WSU had better rating than L'ville/UK the year before. Louisville vs Kentucky provides two great programs and a great rivalry, but L'ville/WSU had better ratings.

Maybe slightly. At the same time that is only a rivalry people who like those two teams care about (which granted, both have large fanbases), that arena was likely ful versus watching on tv. Also come tournament time rivalries don't matter nearly as much for ratings and viewership especially since those teams play each other regularly in the regular season. I wouldnt be surprised, without looking it up, that UofL and UK had better regular season ratings than in the tournament. Rivalries are a bit more stale late in the tournament if it is two familliar teams. But it is still a good point

Dan, I appreciate your perspective. Carefully considered and formed opinions presented respectfully on a message board is rare. We don't have a ton of people on this board, and even fewer rival fans, but I appreciate the exchange of ideas and opinions.

Go Hawks!

RE: ESPN Bubble Watch
The interesting team to watch now is MTSU. They just got ranked in the coaches poll. I fear that if they stumble in the CUSA tournament they are looking at NIT as well. Their wins are good and worthy of getting an at large (though their win over you is their only one in their top 100 rpi who will make the tournament). They will truly be the case of the selection committee enforcing bad losses over good wins, I imagine. Any loss would be to a team outside of the top 100 rpi

2-1 vs top 50 rpi
2-0 vs 51-100 rpi

2 losses to teams with over 150 rpi and 1 loss in the 101-150 rpi

You're right Dan. It sucks for them that CUSA picked this year to have their worst year ever
