Winning and losing won't make much difference. The question is can they (and UMass, for that matter) get 4 FBS home games a year long-term.

The only way NMSU makes sense is all sports, but the Presidents wanted a more compact Olympic Sports League.

They are an asset in basketball, but the Sun Belt is probably a top 5 league in baseball right now, I'm not NMSU helps there.

What NMSU has going for them is that they are still well liked among several SBC schools, so they should be able to get several games scheduled in football. Both Georgia Southern and ULL have scheduled them already for 2018 and 2019.

I'm afraid they are. NMSU is closer to Las Vegas than they are to the closest SBC team, Texas State. Texas State isn't a long term member either, so the closest team to them in it for the long haul is Lafayette or Arkansas State.

Texas is enormous.
