To be truthful, you said the same thing about Haase many times. And he got hired away to a Pac - 10 school.
And why does Clark keep being brought up in this thread. If I understand correctly, he is a football coach. You can't compare across sports.
I don't think Haase did enough to get hired away by a pac 12 school. Hey may do well, but I don't think he'd done enough yet to get the Stanford job. He's a good recruiter and program builder. Not totally sold on his coaching abilities.
And a coach is a coach. Of course you can draw parallels. The good ones do more with less. The bad to mediocre ones don't. It's that simple
It's a good thing you don't make those calls for Stanford I guess. You ripped Haase for a couple years before finally seeing the guy could coach. As fans I get that we want to win and win now, but sometimes there is a bigger picture to look at, and you weren't.
Ehsan is a first year coach. Coach Clark was not. And as I pointed out earlier, Anderson was a first round tournament exit away from a pretty poor first season.

Haase can coach?

And you were wrong. Anderson had a good first season even if we had lost the first game in the conference tournament (a close game against USF if I recall.)
He had that team playing with passion intensity and heart, despite the fact that almost the entire roster was made up of either first year players or hold-over players who just were not cut out athletically to do what he wanted them to do. He had the program on the right path and anyone that knows anything about basketball could see it.

Yep, Eddins hit the game winner.

That first XCMA team had something that we haven't really had since. A 6'10 240lb Gabe Kennedy anchoring the paint. Other teams had to respect and double Gabe when he got the ball and Gabe held his own on Defense.

RE: UTSA Game Thread
Haase is one lucky, and well connected, coach. He got the first $1 million salary in UAB history for winning one NCAA game. Anderson went to the Sweet 16 and then still had to wait around for months (and flirt with Auburn) just to get a bump to $600k approved. Haase got a PAC 12 job for one good season (post season 14/15 and regular season 15/16). Anderson went to the CUSA title game in his first year and then to 3 straight NCAA's before landing a P5 job. He almost had to live down being a Nolan Richardson protege' as opposed to the Kansas and UNC golden-boy Haase.
After seeing how this team has performed before and after his time at UAB, I think Robert Brown deserves a cut of the Stanford $ that fell in Haase's lap.

Yeah, Gabe was a great juco pickup. I had high hopes that Cokely would step up this year and be a beast down low, but he looks like he has shed about 10 pounds of muscle from last season, and as a result he has turned into almost entirely a finesse player. Still very skilled and most in CUSA choose to double him, but he could have been so much more!
Cokley has always been a finesse player that uses speed versus strength. That's not a knock on him, but it goes back to my earlier point of not putting the ball in our best players' hands. Cokley is among the most efficient scorers in the country, but we limit his contributions by not putting him in situations that maximize his skillset.

Nope. He lost hist final three regular season games before that tournament run. Then the nit run was decent on top of it. Nobody would have much to say about that season if it ended with a first round flameout and no postseason play.
It's the same thing I always said about Haase and his NCAA year, he was one loss away from a pretty poor season.

I agree. We should be force feeding Cokley on one end and keeping him out of harms way on the other. He is the closest thing we have to a go to scorer and the ball is always in somebody else's hands.

Because that conference setup is better than the current one i can take DePaul drumming us not FIU and UTSA.

Ray is undoubtedly fapping...both to this thread, and to CUSA's conference RPI of 24.
