GS and GSU: (2 losses each)
@ Carolina teams
Texas Teams
@ Arkansas Teams
Southern versus State

StAte (2 losses)
@ Texas teams
Georgia teams
@ Alabama teams
StAte versus Little Rock

UTA and Texas State (3 losses and 4 losses respectively)
Arkansas teams
@ Georgia teams
Alabama teams
Louisiana teams

Coastal Carolina (5 losses)
Georgia teams
@ Alabama teams
Louisiana teams
Coastal versus App State

Every other team has a least 6 losses and is most likely eliminated from a tournament bye.

Southern and State are going to lose at least 2 more conference games apiece.

If Ark State beats both of the Texas teams I think they will have the regular-season championship almost wrapped up.

Little Rock got their big 6'10 Center back this week. They won't be easy. Also, we're talking about winning at Texas Arlington (Which no one has done this year) and Texas State (Which few have done) We'll have to play our best ball of the season to get wins.

McCasland has said that he believes 14-4 would win the league championship this year, simply based on the remaining games between the top teams. We'll see how close he is.

Cross said the same thing in January.

Of the current top five in RPI, three weren't in the Sun Belt during the years WKU was pissed off about the caliber of hoops.
UTA, Georgia State and Georgia Southern were additions to make up for the CUSA raids.
MTSU was a big hoops loss but WKU hoops are down, those three provide more RPI punch than MTSU, WKU, FAU (the top three RPI lost).
Of the five schools lost to CUSA one is top 100 (MTSU) two are in the 200's (WKU and FAU) and two are in the 300s (UNT and FIU).

The Belt gained more in losing UNT and FIU than it lost from MTSU and WKU.

Then in the top 5 of the Sun Belt you have AState (top 100) and Louisiana (129) that is not a surprising spot, both schools have some history of hoops support but both spent a number of years righting the ship in football and just now can start focusing on hoops.

I really like this league right now. The one possible negative I could acknowledge in GSU's move from the CAA to the Belt was the drop in hoops. The Colonial was in its prime as expansion heated up. The improvement of the SBC and the slip by the CAA have made that a wash anyway. In fact, I think we should expect to be a better league than the Colonial every year.

The catch about being in a one bid league in basketball is you have to ask yourself as a program, is it better to be 1st in a bad conference, so you get more NCAA trips, or 3rd or 4th best in a good conference, where the tourney might not be guaranteed?

Hey stAte, remember when UTA had a football team, then disbanded it, allowing you to get Scott Roper, one of the best kickers in your history? Paying it forward this Saturday would be nice.

He is a captain on the JPD police force. Thanks...but hopefully that's as far as it goes. When he was still with UTA he could have beaten stAte with a long field on the last play in Indian Stadium. Refs said he missed. He still contends he has never missed in Indian Stadium. A very good kicker for us and y'all.

Nah. I was thinking you guys should just agree to lose since we haven't been good in a long time and deserve our moment of glory.

Good point. There are schools like Siena and Iona that I would never pay much attention to if the only time I saw the name was in the middle of the A10 standings.

The good thing is, the Belt was a multibid league right before we got here and has the potential to repeat that in any given year if the cards fall right.

Fund start-up costs for football and I'll consider it.

Otherwise, no deal. Scott Roper... I mean, come on, we've done enough to help already.
