Can you name them?

And I'm thinking if you hadn't seen this article, if I spotted you those first 10 programs and gave you 15 guesses to pick the 11th, you wouldn't have guessed Cincinnati. But it's true. Cincy has punched a ticket 20 times since 1992, and it's going to be 21 for the past 26 come March, because the 20-2, 14th-ranked Bearcats are a top-25 team yet again. You'd be hard-pressed to give me five coaches more underappreciated than Mick Cronin, who's now in his 11th season with the Bearcats.

Great article CB. If somehow, someway the Cats could climb to a #3 or #2 seed there are so much better odds of advancing to the second week of the tourney. To do that, you're talking about one more regular season conference loss tops (it can't be a bad loss), winning the regular season title and playing in the conference finals. A lot still has to happen but I love the fight and depth of this team. No one, and I double dare someone to raise their hand, at the start of the season believed this team would be ranked at #14 with a chance to get inside the top ten. So, the Cats continue to exceed expectations. Which is effin' beautiful for the university, fans, alumni and for Mick.

Good article. I like Mick, but I really think he should take a page out of Luke Fickell's playbook and quit with the excuses (conference change, one and done, media coverage, etc) We have a good team this year, sweek 16 or bust.

Mick is not making excuses, he is giving reasons. There is a big difference, and it is up to the listener to differentiate. If you are not a big Mick fan, you will hear whining each and every time. If you are a Mick fan, you will see a reasoned approach. At least here in Cincinnati, there seems to be no in-between stand. Oh well.....

That is a great article because the message is the one a lot of people have been saying here for awhile. It's time to win in march. Just getting there is not good enough anymore.

Amen, ctipton. Too many "fans" have selective hearing. Appreciate what we have in Mick. He's a great coach, and not many great coaches want to coach in this crap of a conference. We're lucky to have him.

Great article, CincyBro. Thanks for sharing. We definitely need a deep tourney run.

I think the only potential bad loss is USF. The other games at all top 100, except UCF and UConn, but I don't think either would be a bad, bad loss. I think 0 or 1 loss is ideal and think we can get a 3 for sure, maybe a 2.

I have @SMU penciled in as a loss. @Uconn and @UCF actually scare me....a lot. Especially @Uconn. The game is in March. Uconn in march....not fun.

Hit the nail on the head. We have a great program. But the reason most fans are salty is no love in March. How long must we endure this punishment? The WVU banked 3's and the dunks still on the finger tips at the buzzers? The broken legs and the teams that ran out of gas down the stretch. UCONN beating us every fuckin time in March.

It's gettin' old people. Our time is now.

It's gotta be our time. We've been waiting so long. Thru 3 coaches now. Even Kennedy got burned by McNamarra. And yet we still should have made that Tourney. 20 years since Mississippi St. Every year being disappointed. I don't blame all those coaches. They've all been snake bit. I just want to advance! We're so overdue. And I really think this might be that team.

This indeed may be our year, we certainly have won some games this year we would have lost in other years. Iowa St., Tulsa, etc.

You know, when UC was in the REAL Big East I was always proud of what UCONN did for the conference with their national championships. Of course that was cold comfort for UC fans with the postseason futility under three coaches as you've described. And UCONN's advancing was too often at our expense.

Yes, we're overdue. That's not a shot at Mick either. This article does an excellent job summarizing UC's great tradition in college hoops and how the 'Cats have been flying under the radar in recent years. It's going in the record books as one of our greatest regular seasons ever. Unfortunately, anything short of a Sweet Sixteen this year will disappoint many fans and add fuel to the fire for the talking heads who always pick against UC in their Selection Sunday brackets.

It's time to advance. It's time to set the stage for some successive glory years of deep runs. Mick is one of us and I'm sure wants it as much as anyone.

I will suggest that this indeed will be our best chance simply because its been widely suggested that you win in March with offense, something that has been sorely lacking in recent years.

Perhaps I only say this because (1) I don't want to be let down this March and think "well there went our best shot," and (2) I don't value a senior guard like Troy Caupain as much as I should, but . . . I wonder if next year we will be better.

We have guard play to beat any team in March. We have 5 solid guards and bigs with size.

So how many games has Fickell actually coached here? How about zero. Let's see what happens before bashing Mick who took over a program that got a de facto death penalty.
