Mornarch Nation...Belated congratulations on going bowling this past football season. Being a Conference USA fan, I rooted for all its representatives (including ODU), except one ...Anyway, I hate that ODU wasn't on UAB's return season schedule, you guys/gals are always a fun bunch to hang around, game would have been talked about for years to come. How did the Monarchs do, in your estimate, in regards to recruiting this time around? Someone please give me a holler about that when you get a chance. I've been in employment hiatus and have missed the entire C-USA Basketball season, but I should be back in the saddle again for the next football and hardcourt campaign. In my opinion we did quite well in getting good players who fit the needs we have. Not a ton of splashy players at splashy positions, but a solid class with a lot of potential. There should be a few future stars in the bunch. QB is a question for next season, and we landed a juco and a good looking highschooler. I'm not as big of a football recruiting expert as some, but I'd probably give it a B+ overall.

There are no recruiting experts, only people with opinions.

I'd give the staff a B-. They have a couple guys that look like FCS players in my opinion. Also, I feel like they took some gambles on guys (due to injuries or other circumstances). If they pay off, the coaches will look brilliant.

The staff didn't have immediate playing time to dangle in front of guys that are able to play right away, and that may have really hurt them. They went after mostly raw talent that they can get in the weight room and really develop.

I do think that Jordan Hoy and Keisean Wilson are ready to play in key positions of need. It was critical that the staff address these areas and they did so with two outstanding recruits.

Agree with everything you said here. Especially the part about the height.

247 rated the Monarchs as the 8th best recruiting class in the conference. Personally, I think we were better than that. I can easily agree with Monarx on the overall B+ grade. This appears to me to be the biggest most athletic class to be recruited since we restarted football in 2009. I can't see a guy in this class that will not be able to contribute on the field in the next four years -- some sooner than others. No regrets at all from me about what the coaches pulled in this year.

Hoy will be fine if he gets half the chances Shular Bentley got.

Well he can move and Bobby Wilder says the treasures the football and isn't big on throwing interception and if you doubt this you can see todays Richmond Times Dispatch sports section.
