Fox slow to delete false info on Quebec shooter
Fox News deletes false tweet about Quebec shooter
NDN/AP
Fox News has deleted a tweet with false information about the origin of the suspected shooter in an attack on a Quebec City mosque that killed six people and wounded eight.

"Suspect in Quebec mosque attack was of Moroccan origin, reports show," Fox’s Jan. 30 tweet originally said.

The suspect has since been confirmed to be Alexandre Bissonnette, a 27-year-old Canadian who, according to The New York Times, "was well known to people who monitor far-right groups in Quebec, where he frequently on sites speaking about immigration and Islam."

Actually, I don't think they ever retracted it on air by telling people what they got wrong.

You are probably right. I believe they left the tweet up all weekend and only retracted it Monday. To my knowledge however, they never apologized or corrected the information publicly.

But why should they feel the need to anyway? The target audience for that falsehood is clearly only getting their news from Twitter.

I believe that they said live in air that the original report included two men and one was of Moraccon decent. Then later said that individual was merely a witness to the shooting.

He could be a jock strap supporter for all we care. He killed Those folks and needs to pay the piper just like Dylan Roof will pay. We don't like murderers and have no sympathy for Them no matter the race or political beliefs. The White Guy that dragged Mr. Byrd to death in Texas paid as did McVeigh in Oklahoma paid. We don't cry out for saving them.

Why hasn't CNN deleted this?

Quote:In what was described as a coordinated attack, witnesses say at least two gunmen wearing black fired indiscriminately into the dozens of worshipers -- including families -- in the mosque.

Because that is what witnesses saw.

I wonder. Who saw the nationality of the suspects that prompted Fox News to say he was from Morraco?

If that's what they saw, where is the other shooter?
