In the vote, 56 senators backed Tillerson, and 43 voted no. The tally was largely along party lines, with every Republican favoring Tillerson, along with four members of the Democratic caucus, Senators Heidi Heitkamp, Joe Manchin and Mark Warner as well as Angus King, an independent.
Democratic Senator Chris Coons did not vote.

Pretty ridiculous for the Democrats. A guy who was recommended independently by Condaleeza Rice and Robert Gates and they lock step vote against them. Only the reasonable Warner and the endangered Heitkamp and Manchin voted for him.

Condi and Robert Gates carry a lot more weight than DNC talking points. Pretty hard to get a better recommendation.

Condi did a "heck of a job" under GWB.

LOL. Condi was a horrible Secy State and NSA. Has nothing to do with her color. I'll treat her endorsement of Tilllerson in the same bucket of her description of a memo presented to GWB on "Osama Bin Laden determined to attack inside US" in August 2001 as 'just a minor historical document' or her support of Iraq having WMD's.

And what about the opinion of the Libertarians and Democrats that voted in favor? Would their votes be discredited by anything?

I don't care about either, tbh, but for now more of our oil comes from the ME and Yemen borders Saudi Arabia. Maybe that has something to do with it?

and yes. I got my old handle restored.

It gets no more qualified than Rex.

He's a stand-up individual and an even better negotiator/leader.

America has a real champion now.

Take your word for it, don't know much about him. It's almost impossible to imagine anyone worse than Hillary or Kerry so he had to be an improvenent.
