Harry Reid set the precedent, so any libs crying over this can send their complaint to Harry. As Obama loved to say, "elections have consequences".

Just because Trump says it, doesn't mean they'll do it... and I will be honest, I still don't think they'll need to (if some of the democratic-non stallers are true to their word.)

But that remains to be seen.

Those whom know McConnell from His Younger days as a Jefferson County Judge/ Executive and His early Senate campaigns ,know He is very capable of using the Nuclear option. Don't let that smile fool You.

Did they go to jail? Remember, Oblunder was president the last 8 years and he didn't prosecute. If they were guilty the Demon-cratic party would probably have loved to do that, but they didn't and for a reason.

We were just doing what Chuck-E-Schumer suggested in 2007..

I suspect that in a matter of days, there will be TV ads running in the states of the Dem Senators who are up for election in 2018 in states carried by Trump.

If eight of those Senators agree to cloture, the vote could go forward and they could still vote no on the nomination. Then they could argue that they took the high road and decided to allow a vote, pointing out that the Repubs didn't do that for Garland.

Here's a list of Senators in states with big Trump margins:

Joe Donnelly (IN) Trump 19%
Claire McKaskill (MO) 19%
Jon Tester (MO) 21%
Heidi Heitkamp (ND) 36%
Sherrod Brown (OH) 8%
Joe Manchin (WV) 42%

Although Trump didn't have large margins in Fl, PA and WI, he still won.

In 2007 Schumer said her would... And the funny thing is *THE DEMS HAD THE MAJORITY AT THE TIME*... In a time where they could have provided a vote and just voted the candidate down Schumer said:

“We should reverse the presumption of confirmation. The Supreme Court is dangerously out of balance. We cannot afford to see Justice Stevens replaced by another Roberts, or Justice Ginsburg by another Alito.”

This was 18 months before the next election.

And his focus was on "maintaining the balance" which is now there. With Justice Scalia's death the "balance", if that was Chuck's guiding principle, demands an origionalist justice be appointed.

"I will do everything in my power to prevent one more ideological ally to Roberts and Alito from joining the court, thank you" - Chuck-E-Schumer

And if you want to get nitpicky it was not a year, the time from Scalia's death to the election was 9 months.

BTW Obama tried to filibuster Alito when he was in the Senate
