The airport is located in Hebron, KY, a Cincinnati suburb. However, the jobs will affect the entirety of the Cincinnati metro area.

Big win for them. The Delta/Northwest merger left the airport a ghost town and Delta dramatically scaled back flights in what used to be a major hub for them.

That's been changing over the past couple of years. CVG now is the largest base for Allegiant Air, Vacation Air and the 6th largest for Frontier. CVG also is one of three global hubs for DHL Aviation and DHL Express; as well as Southern Air, DHL's passenger service. American Airlines resumes this April, Southwest and United in June.

Charlotte is getting one of these as well from the rumblings I've heard, though it hasn't been announced yet.

Amazon is building a huge distribution center right beside our airport at the moment to support their Prime Air service.

Interesting. I buy some tools direct from China for my business and they always ship DHL. They always land in Cinci before being put on a truck. Makes sense now. I was wondering why Cinci was the always the first stop instead of a California city.

CVG is a nice commercial airport, if only it weren't out in Northern Kentucky. I guess it's handy now from Amazon's perspective, their gigantic fulfillment center is an hour or so down the road in Lexington. I guess they're fortunate in that regard that they chose Kentucky as the location instead of the northern suburbs in between Cincy and Dayton.

My hometown of St. Louis really needs cargo hub status too with Southwest being the only major airline out of Lambert now, five or so years ago there was discussion of state tax credits being used to lure a major Chinese air cargo company but it didn't pan out. A week or two ago I saw that new cargo facilities there were on Trump's preliminary list of 100 major infrastructure projects, who knows what'll come of that.

Hate to hear that. I really liked the Cincy airport the times we caught layovers there.

We were coming back from FDIC in Indy one year and got stuck in Cincy for a couple hours due to weather. We pretty much got lucky they called the plane when they did because if we had another pint or two of whatever the local microbrew they had on tap was we probably would have had to walk home.
