Memphis to draw UConn on its home court for their first tournament game would be less than optimal.

RE: AAC Conference Tourney Bracketology
If SMU beats Cincinnati on Sunday and neither team loses any other games, then the #1 seed would come down to a coin-flip (for the second time in 4 years of the AAC). Last time, even though Cincinnati won the coin-flip, they really lost as they got the much more difficult route having to play UConn/Memphis versus Louisville who got SMU/Houston. I'm sure the Bearcats would be praying they could avoid whichever side UConn is on. The Huskies have beaten the Bearcats in all three AAC Tournaments and five straight post season games overall...

Honestly, I'm not very afraid of UConn this year. Their team has virtually no reliable scorers. They can get hot at any time, and it's never fun to play a team on the road, but I'd much rather play UConn than UH or Memphis given the choice.
Perhaps I'll eat my words, but UConn doesn't have it this year to make a run. I really don't see how anyone but UC or SMU wins the conference tourney. Quite frankly, those 2 are just running through the rest of the league right now.

The way I read it it will come down to which teams SMU and Cincy only played once.
>>> If the tie cannot be broken after continuing down through the last team or
teams in the standings, revert back to comparing records against the top teams
in order and allow winning percentage to prevail even if there is a comparison of

1-0. However, the reverse is not true – no team gains advantage when all have a
.000 winning percentage (0-1 is never better than 0-2)..<<<

So by my reading... If UC and SMU both only lose 1 conference game, SMU is the 1 seed if Memphis finishes ahead of UCF. UC is the 1 seed if UCF finishes ahead of Memphis.

Yep. If the standings hold as is, Memphis gets the worst draw possible. UConn at their place, then likely SMU, then likely UC. Ouch.

Ah, now that I look closer, there were so many anomalies in that 2013-14 season, particularly being a three-way tie between SMU, Memphis and UConn that caused the AAC to go to the last tie-breaker. There also was a double round-robin since there were only 10 teams that season...

That is a better spot for Memphis. No Tulsa, UCF on first day. Gives us better chance to continue on to next round.

Here's where we are at , just 2 weeks out ...
First Round - Thursday, March 9
Game 1: No. 9 Temple vs. No. 8 ECU - 3:30 p.m. ET (ESPNU)
Game 2: No. 10 Tulane vs. No. 7 Tulsa - 6 p.m. ET (ESPNews)

Quarterfinals - Friday, March 10
Game 4: ECU/Temple vs. No. 1 Cincinnati - Noon ET (ESPN2)
Game 5: No. 5 UCF vs. No. 4 UConn - 2 p.m. ET (ESPN2)
Game 6: Tulane/Tulsa vs. No. 2 SMU - 7 p.m. ET (ESPNU)
Game 7: USF/Memphis vs. No. 3 Houston - 9 p.m. ET (ESPNU)
At the moment , Cincinnati holds the tie breaker over SMU , because UCF is ahead of Memphis in the standings. (without going into a long explanation its based on the teams each team played only once) . Frankly as long as it's a shared AAC regular season title , I think each team would prefer to take the seed thats opposite UConn in the bracket.

Tough draw for ucf getting uconn. They really hammered us at uconn. We should finish 10-8 in league play.

It would probably take UConn losing out for them not to be in the 4/5 game at this point.

I would be fine with Memphis as the 6 seed. We would get USF first, then assuming we win, we would get UH next. I think that's an easier road than playing UConn again on their home court, even though we had a big lead on them there last week, before blowing it.
The problem with being #6 with no bye is we are so thin that we could never survive playing 3 or 4 nights in a row.

i'd rather trade ya and get the 6 seed for the same reasons! Plus getting a warmup win vs USF would be a good start heading into the tournament. Face it, whoever is playing USF can bench key players for most of the 2nd half.

Correction . Based on the league office, SMU right now has the number 1. I had it in my head the scenario where both teams finish 17-1. Jumping the gun a bit.
