Phil McGeoghan to Bills
Boooooooo!

"East Carolina is reportedly losing its wide receivers coach.

Phil McGeoghan, who coached with the Pirates under first-year head coach Scottie Montgomery and played an instrumental role in leading Zay Jones to the NCAA all-time record for career receptions and single-season mark, is set to be hired as the Bills' new wide receivers coach, according to a report from Adam Caplan.

The report hasn't been confirmed by ECU.

McGeoghan previously coached with the Miami Dolphins from 2012-2015, spending his last season as the team's primary wide receivers coach.

Montgomery and McGeoghan were teammates as wide receivers in the NFL with the Broncos."

RE: Phil McGeoghan to Bills
While I thought McGeoghan may have been our best asset as an assistant, moreso than the coordinators, he is getting a little too much credit for Zay's accolades.

He did seem to help polish him up a little this year and helped him become a viable OWR option but Zay was great 3 years before McGeoghan even knew who he was. I imagine Zay helped him get another NFL job more than Phil helped Zay become the WR he is.

Also recruited Leroy Henley.

I gave him his credit, he will be a loss. Just don't think he would've gotten a call up after a 3-9 season if Zay Jones hadn't showed out at the Senior Bowl.

Agreed, especially considering the fact Zay Jones, passed Justin Hardy for the record who broke the record at ECU with several coaches along the way. He definitely polished up Zay on route running but losing Trevon Brown played a huge role in the number of receptions Zay got along with having no TE option and not using our RB's out of the back field as much for dink and dunk as we have in the past.

I suspect if this is true, an announcement can be made now that NLIs are in. Guess we'll hear one way or the other in the next few days.
