I'm struggling to think Troy Williams is the worst player on the roster, but whatever works I guess.

I think the only two other options to waive would have been Harrison or Carter.

Carter has been contributing too much for them to waive him for a backup point guard and if you waive Harrison you pretty much have to sign Douglas for the rest of the season instead of just a 10 day. If Baldwin were ready they would not have had to make this move.

How about J-Mart? He's been terrible...

I will admit that I am no expert in NBA contracts but I was under the impression that first round picks' rookie contracts were guaranteed. Harrison was picked in the second round and Carter's contract was only partially guaranteed this year. That was my basis for saying Harrison and Carter were the only other options, but I could be completely wrong on that.

And I haven't seen enough of J-Mart to form an opinion, I thought he showed promise last year when we had all the injuries but he hasn't played much if at all in any of the games I've watched this season.

First round contracts are guaranteed. Sometimes they will give a guaranteed contract to a 2nd year player. In Harrison's case I am pretty sure that they did. Still it's not a lot of money if they wanted to waive him.

I like Martin. I think he could develop into a player.

If he could develop a reliable jumper from beyond the arc they could save a lot of money this summer not worrying about trying to match offers for Jam Green.

Green value comes from the defensive side

I like Martin. But I love Jam Green. Versatile defender with solid jump shot, plus he gets after it on the glass. He's a great guy to pair with either gasol or Randolph.

Don't get me wrong, I love Jam Green. But will the Grizzlies be able to match the type of offers he is likely to get this summer?

They can match any offer they want to match. Bird rights

Small market teams usually try to avoid the luxury tax.

There are better ways to avoid paying the luxury tax than deciding not to resign one of your key contributors
