If it is a pretty day in the valley and a late afternoon start, we might see a 20k+ crowd.

You would probably be right.

Looking back at recent years our second home game against a cream puff team usually gets around 20k plus with the notable exception of Lehigh being 15k. I recall that game being fine weather but the box score said it was overcast, maybe there was rain predicted which kept people home in Richmond/NoVA/H'burg.

Would you consider the Championship game to have been played in ideal conditions? I realize there was no precipitation, but that was most likely the coldest any JMU football team has ever competed yet the fans showed. I say JMU fans are not fair weather fans, they just want something to get their blood flowing. The hard core guys are showing up regardless of the competition, but put NDSU at BFS on Sept. 16 and have the conditions we played in at Tech and BFS will be rocking. Put Norfolk State in there with the same conditions and it will look like it did, or worse, when Charlotte came to BFS.

When you take into account the sun or lack of, I think SHSU was probably colder....

At least it felt that way to me....

I'd say JMU fans are pretty fair weather(literally), but obviously the right situation will make the good outweigh the bad for enough to fill the stadium or close to it. Like you said, someone like NDSU will get Bridgeforth packed regardless of weather, but make it Norfolk State and it's going to be all about how nice the weather is. When it comes to something on a big stage like a national championship or March Madness, JMU will show up regardless. We could play the national championship outdoors in Fargo in January and JMU would turn out big.

Good weather + Any opponent = there

Bad weather + good opponent = there

Bad weather + bad opponent = not there
