Iran isn't some barbaric country. It has suppressive, religious leadership with ridiculous rules, but so does China (except the religious part).

The question because what happens now that Americans are banned from Iran as a consequence of the Trump Muslim countries ban.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere in the middle-east, with the exception of a couple of cities... Iran is off my list haha.

Iran is a strange place, but certainly not poor.

They have a strong university system, and a well funded military that's one of the best in the world at unconventional warfare.

A truly terrifying enemy.

My dad lived and worked in Afghanistan for 10+ years as a government contractor, but if I were married to my step-mom I probably wouldn't mind moving to Afghanistan either.

Tehran is a huge, sprawling wealthy metropolis. I wouldn't want to live there but wouldn't mind visiting for a couple of days.

Anthony Bourdain did a show from there a few seasons back. Definitely a must watch. Shows the good of the Iranian people and the very bad of their government.
