Of course. It'll be great for us when we start league play 3-0.

RE: 2017 WM baseball season
Brown had his worst start in memory....gave up nine runs in three+ innings and we were out of it early.

Let's hope we bounce back today.

Game 2 and Sheehan is pitching well. 33 pitches through 3 innings with a 2-0 lead heading to the top of the 4th.

He seems to be the very definition of a "crafty lefty". Deceptive motion, lots of movement on his pitches, etc. He's getting our guys to pop up a lot the first trip through the order.

RE: 2017 WM baseball season
Team appears to be blowing the game in 9th...now 5-5 with UNC tallying three in 9th and still up with men on base.

Would be terrible loss.

Game lost, 6-5 as UNCW scores four in ninth. Sheehan hurled great eight innings, gave up single ti lead off ninth, taken out with White relieving. HBP, walk, 3 run double, sac and winning run scores on fielders choice.

A brutal, depressing loss to the team they have to beat.

That's on the coach. Let Sheehan finish the game and we win. Don't over think things. UNCW can't touch him for 8 and then we throw someone else. Come on.

Rest easy...we don't "have to beat" the Hawks until games 2 and 3 of the CAA playoffs. I think history has proven that.

Looks like W&M has no bullpen this year. Really missing Gaouette

History has also proven you need to finish in the top 6 to make the CAA tourney.

RE: 2017 WM baseball season
Actually, White had been pitching overwhelmingly lately, with four saves and solid.
He obviously didn't have it yesterday.

BT3, White had not been pitching that well. Before yesterday he had an ERA of 5.63, 8 walks in 8 innings pitched, and had bad outings against Florida and Yale. he has a very strange delivery and his ball moves all over the place. When he throws strikes and his sinker is dropping a foot he's lights out. When he can't throw strikes and has to groove a fastball he gets hit.

The manager needs to learn how to quickly ascertain which White is on the mound (perhaps even figure it out while he is warming up in the bullpen?). If it is the "Hyde" White then yank him out of there. Games like yesterday should not happen; Sheehan pitched far too well to not get a win.

Also, although it turned out to not make any difference yesterday, but why didn't Murphy intentionally walk the batter with first base open in order to get a forceout at any base? I don't necessarily believe you should always go "by the book" (for example, I hate sacrifices because statistics prove that a sacrifice is almost always a wasted out unless it is the bottom of the ninth (or bottom of extra innings) in a tie game) but in this case yesterday the advantage of getting a force at any base is strong. I understand that the next hitter was good but, hey, even the best college players make out at least 60% of the time.

Raquet pitched 6 giving up 4 and pitched 109 pitches.

Fernandez started the 7th and should have gotten out of it at 10-5 but for an error and then gave up 4 more runs before Farrell got put in and walked 2 on 8 pitches. Sara replaced him and struck out the next guy.

Sara walked first guy in the 8th and then Fletcher came in and should have gotten 3 straight out but his 2nd batter reached on an error. Still got out of inning.

Fletcher got 1st out in the 9th. Then, Powers came in and got 2 out with a single in between the two batters

Giving up a lot of runs late in the game after the starter pitched a good game seems to be a developing pattern.
