Well, they had 15 at the half, so that is an improvement.

Yep, second half they had a lot of one and dones. Much better block outs.

Only way this one could've been better was if we had put 100 points on the board. Nice to see us have proper spacing and not panic in the face of full court press for a change. No let up for Drexel on Monday!

RE: UNCW Part 2
In the past I've talked about how teams that are only good on one side of the floor tend to not deliver in the CAA tourney. This year as it currently stands might be an outlier. Per KenPom:

UNCW- 1st offensively, 6th defensively
W&M- 3rd offensively, 8th defensively
Northeastern- 4th offensively, 4th defensively
Elon- 5th offensively, 2nd defensively
Towson- 6th offensively, 3rd defensively
Charleston- 8th offensively, 1st defensively

The most balanced team recently lost 4 in a row before pulling out of their death spiral. Elon is the only other team in the top half of the conference on both sides of the court.

NJAlum--sorry we will miss you. Let me know if you want our seats. I can get in touch with Spencer to set you up.

What's better ... solid food, rest , or a Tribe beatdown? Feel better.

No, you didn't want me in your seats yesterday. Never seen anything like yesterday at Kaplan. It was a physical war, and there was a stretch at the end of the first half were the officiating was horrific. I would have been thrown out of the place if I was on the Court.

Keatts was chirping in the refs' ears for the entire two hours. I need seats behind the visiting bench :-)

Funny scene where David walked by Tony, and Tony grabbed him by the uniform and David kept trying to walk away .... wonder if a photog caught the moment.

Not-funny scene at end of game when UNCW player cut in front of Tony, and Tony stopped, and was clearly stunned by the lack of respect.

I got the impression that these two teams do not like each other.

If UNCW is the best team in the CAA, and their record says they are, ...

Hmm, becoming a trend. At least he didn't throw his elbow into Tony's chest...that was a lovely moment two years ago.

Their board was afire with total disrespect for us. We can crush any CAA team when we play our game...just haven't done that much lately.

To be fair, you guys were pretty down on your own team all year. We were just repeating a lot of what you guys said on your own board.

Glad to see the Tribe back to playing at a high level. It's good for the league. You kicked our asses yesterday, plain and simple.

RE: UNCW Part 2
Very encouraging to see W&M deal so well with UNCW's full court press. When the two teams played two weeks ago, a 24 point Tribe loss, when Wilmington hung 100 points, the Seahawks' press absolutely killed W&M.
The full-court pressure led to 17-2 and a 13-0 UNCW runs that game in Wilmington.

This time around, W&M inbounded the ball quickly, took their time, found the open man and even converted a lot of easy buckets as they broke the press. Very, very encouraging to see. Tells us that Tony obviously spent a lot of time in practice working on it and reinforces the fact that the Tribe is a bunch of very smart, coachable kids.

Personally, I have gone from thinking there was no way this Tribe team could get past the semi's in the CAA Tournament; to thinking, hey, if they play like this, they can make another run at a CAA Tourney Championship. Let's keep knocking on that door!

Rewatching the game, it is truly amazing how many 50/50 out of bounds balls the refs gave to Wilmington.

You know I'm just messing with you guys. Good group of Hawks fans so never malicious intent when I talk a little smack.

See you Monday night in Charleston. Feel free to leave Cacock at home.

Oh I know you don't have malicious intent. And we deserved the smack on this one. Just gotta move on quickly from this one.

And I, for one, hope we do NOT see you guys in Charleston, even though a title game matchup would be pretty damn epic.

My apologies for being late getting over here to congratulate you. I've been a combination of on duty/working and sick, and watching the replay of the game yesterday, as I'm sure you all know, didn't help me feel any better. Congratulations on the win though, and I agree with SN08... I'd rather not play you all in the CAAT.

RE: UNCW Part 2
I love how we didn't let UNCW rush the tempo. There were a couple of stretches where we did push the tempo, but converted on the fast break (Omar's layup where he was way past the backboard and managed to flick it in comes to mind). In our game in Wilmington, we didn't convert on the fast break and seemed to keep rushing. Slowing the pace down is how you beat this team, but it's not easy to do. Having them go cold from three helped that a lot (credit to our defense for some of that).

We dictated the tempo both fast and slow. We got behind their defense several times on fast breaks and had very good situations where we outnumbered them on breaks. I didn't count, but I think half of our turnovers were on moving screens, charges, etc.

RE: UNCW Part 2
One final note: The Saturday reffing crews suck. The CAA gets the bottom of the barrel on Saturdays because our usual Thursday crews are doing ACC games on Saturdays.

So I get the complaints in this thread, I really do.
