Defensive Juggernaut!!!!!
"Jeremiah Martin dominated defensively, setting a new career-high with six steals and tying a career-high with three blocked shots, in addition to scoring five points, pulling down three rebounds, and dishing out three assists."
Kudos and mass props to Jeremiah Martin for setting the bar defensively and taking the honess upon himself to establish a level of defensive intensity and mindset that sets a foundation for this team from the point of attack and beyond!!! I thought that Markel was our defensive anchor, but seeing him make lazy reaches and take possessions off of NOT boxing out and standing around, Jeremiah has become our rock and quickly emerging as, "his team"!...It seems as though KJ benefits from this as well and so does Jimario benefit from the emerging leadership of Jeremiah...
JM is willing himself through these games, even when rest is NOT an option, however I do see that Craig Randall is following suit as well and emerging as one to rely upon...
Also seeing Dedric and KJ start to find themselves and see where the opportunities for them lie in the offense is truly a treat to see....This team is EMERGING!!!!

Martin is good but he also helps far too much which does lead to some steals but also leads to open shots.

You mean to tell me there are other ways to win ball game besides just making shots?

It's about the Jimmys and Joes, not the X's and O's.

I said after 5-6 games Martin might be our best D guard since AA. Very disruptive with long wingspan in getting deflections. Great on the ball Defender but as our competition has picked up, I've noticed that he plays back a step instead of in your man's face because he has been getting beat off dribble a bit-not a lot but a bit.
He and other perimeter players also sag inside a lot (I think due to our rebounding problems) and we have been getting hurt from 3 pt line. Also, defensive 3pt FG% D is misleading because as we sag these guys are getting a ton of wide open 3s but thankfully missing them.
All good points...I'm thinking that Craig has some abilities defensively as well,it will develop. To what extent, is the missing ingredient. As Craig gets more time, he's becoming more instinctual with his defensive decisions and I also feel that if he was relied upon more defensively; playing on the ball more; initiating half-court traps that his offensive game would improve through being more active and decision-making would become more team cohesive...
KJ is becoming an absolute beast as well, loving his tenacity and now I realize that he has a must-win attitude and he wants more from himself...he's going to round out to be one heck of a player....really excited about his upside and development...
I digress about my comments about Markel....didn't mean to rag on him now that I hear that he is battling tendonitis...maybe we can rest him and allow Craig and Keon get minutes so that we have him for our "push to 64" a healthy Markel is imperative....
We need Craig and Keon to be serviceable and eliminate rookie mistakes
