RE: Baseball Spring Intrasquads
Though Jefferies (3.0 IP, 2 hits, 0 runs, 2 BBs, 2 Ks), Moss (3.0 IP, 2 hits, 1 ER, 3 BBs, 3 Ks) and Mueller (2.0 IP, 1 hit, 0 runs, 2 BBs, 1 K) all pitched well, the hitters dominated today's scrimmage. Proctor had 3 hits, including 2 doubles, Chandler had a double and triple, Jefferies triped, Sheppard and Lammons each doubled, Moss got two hits and Duluc homered.

Given Jefferies was not stretched today, it's looking like we're going to start off (at least until Otto returns) with Jefferies, Moss, Mueller, Kravetz and Parthasarathy manning the pen, with likely starting pitchers (until Amador returns) being Myers, Salinas, Canterino, Esquivel and, perhaps, Orewiler (as we need 5 starters for UT and DBU next week).

Rice closer Glenn Otto threw a bullpen today & felt good. Has had some shoulder soreness, but is pain free. Still uncertain for Opening Day.

RE: Baseball Spring Intrasquads
Over the past two days, with each pitching their last intrasquad outing before the regular season, Esquivel, Garcia, Kravetz, Myers and Canterino all excelled. On the down side, both Salinas and Orewiler struggled.

On offense, Warren and Myers are really heating up-- both had 3 hits today (Charlie with a pair of doubles, Dane with one double). Wunderlich doubled and HRed, racking up 4 RBIs. Lammons also continues to surge with another 2 hits today, including a double.

Tomorrow's the last intrasquad of the Spring, with Jefferies and Parthasarathy scheduled to pitch.

RE: Baseball Spring Intrasquads
In the final scrimmage before the season-opener, Jefferies and Moss each pitched two shutout innings. I suspect until the Otto-man returns, these two will anchor the back of the bullpen, with Kravetz, Parthasarathy and a couple of the Freshmen holding the fort in middle relief and set-up roles.

Otherwise, the power bats were out today, with HRs by Proctor, Sheppard and Mueller, and long sac flies by Warren and Myers. Gray added a double.

A couple days now to work on execution and fundamentals during practice before the big weekend in Austin.
