I would hope nobody actually thought they'd be bringing in cranes the day after they first showed the renderings. We certainly didn't just have $40 million lying around in a drawer waiting to be spent. Three years passed at Ole Miss between their unveiling of plans and the first shovel hitting the dirt because that's how long it took to get the funding hammered out.

The problem with McGillis's RGC mock-up is that it was obviously way too small. Like, maybe ants could play basketball in there, but not humans. The ceiling was about 6" from the court!

Major miss on McGillis's part, and a big part of why he's not here anymore.
