Yet he stayed and has returned some magic to the magic city.

Shouldn't get an argument from anybody on here!

I completely agree. If we have the success I know we're capable of it'll be hard to keep him. But if shutting the program down didn't run him off, I would hope we'd have a good chance to hang on to him for awhile.

I think he's cut from the same cloth as Gene in the sense of he views this as his program and his legacy.

Hopefully Johnston committing and OV'ing this weekend can help us with Whitlow and Young. Drew mentioned last week that he though Young would take his OV to UAB this weekend. It's got to help to have a fellow Mobile stud in Johnston visiting with him. Whitlow is now the only player that visited last weekend that hasn't committed to us.

At the moment, don't know if it'll be an OV or if he has an offer. he rushed for 2000 yards this season.

It could be official and he get an offer if coaches like him once he's on campus. Clark, unlike most coaches only gives out committable offers, which means he doesn't just offer everyone.

Update on the Johnston commitment.... I think last night was the SFHS sports banquet. My customer sat at the same table with Thomas's parents. When he was introduced, several people in the audience stood and started yelling 'hottie toddy'. Thomas's parents started smiling and told my friend then that he wood commit to UAB today....

Matt I agree. I remember commenting when we hired him that he
Had a lot of Bob Findlay in him and got slammed. The character thing is what makes him special

Is Johnston's commitment why Whisenhunt backed off?

The people slamming you, must not have known or played for Bob Finley.

After playing four years for Coach Finley, he was thought to be old school back then.

Clark is cut from the same mold of a dying breed of coaches....gets a lot of that from his Dad and that generation of coaches.

Very refreshing in this day and age.
