SOT: Former USF assistant about to be canned.
A little gossip to warm up the football off season. One of Taggart's boys about to forfeit a $300,000 a year job.

In a lot of big conference/big school situations, that would have been "taken care of" before they ever left the scene and we wouldn't have known about it, particularly in a monied situation like Oregon.

There is a segment of Eugene that is very critical of U of O and the conduct of some of its collegiate citizens, much of it aimed at the athletic portion of the program. Past conduct has put a lot of lenses on the campus.

What if you were having buyer's remorse after the best coach in school history surprisingly became available again, would stories like this get out then?

UBER might have cost him $14.35

Bad financial decision to drive drunk at 2:10 in the morning.

I think this DUI is a blessing for the S&C coach. Now that the bar for firing has been lowered to getting a DUI with recruits in your car, being unqualified, but highly motivated looks pretty good.

Traditional cabs ARE safer and much more professional.

#NO Uber for me

Yes, in many cities thats true...but in many college towns...you can get an UBER ride in 1-2 mins...whereas getting a cab generally takes longer (costs more too).

Eugene doesn't allow Uber or Lyft.

It's something small but that is something that is a big asset for students & student athletes to eliminate tempting bad decisions.

Anyone that gets a DUI by UCF now is a complete idiot with the convenience of Uber

Cab service is pretty good in Eugene. Short waits (except in ice storms which are infrequent but possible).

Where did you see that?

The Police report stated that there was "one adult" in the car. No word on who that adult was...i.e. another assistant coach. If there were recruit(s) then this would be a huge national story...and point toward a cover up.

I get that the craft brew in Oregon is just flat out awesome, but was it worth $300K and making yourself radioactive in the coaching ranks to have another DIPA?

smh...
More importantly, he endangered the lives of the people around him and the person in the car.

I lost a cousin to a drunk driver...so I have zero tolerance for this sh!t. Coach Reeves seems like a nice guy, but made an incredibly irresponsible mistake and he is now paying the price. I can't imagine the talk he had to have with his wife and kids.

FYI....Oregon newspaper has found out that the passenger in the car was Oregon's WR Coach, Jimmy Dougherty.
ESPN Outside The Lines did a feature story on Taggart yesterday:

Trouble for Taggart (starts around the 9:15 mark...just scan forward)
