Id rather struggle now than in two months. Our women cant shoot and the men cant play away from savage. These things are fixable. A 7? 8? seed UB won the MAC WBB tourney last season. Its how you play in March that matters. Cullops crew will be fine. Deep breaths... we can adress these questions after another 6 games.

And winning the WNIT does not make us the 65th best team in the nation. That team should have been an at large and proved they probably would have won a game or two in the NCAA's. We didn't make the NCAA's because we lost in the MAC semi's... not on merit of our actual team's resume. If you watched that team play you understand we were better than 18-15 major programs. Us keeping a tradition of 4,000 strong at Savage is why Tricia should not be gone or even close to it. If she was gone, we'd regress back to the Elam days of 600 in the stands.

The Buffalo men were 10-9 (3-3) at this point last season and went on to win the MAC Tournament. The Toledo men's record right now: 10-9 (3-3). Just saying.

I'm ready for a change in both sports. Both have had plenty of time to win the MAC

I'm ok with Coack K for a bit longer.

We've given Cullop plenty of time, and nothing has come of the run to the NIT title.

03-lmfao one team refuses to play defense and needs to score 85 to MAYBE win on a nightly basis, while the other went 9-2 OOC to top 10 teams, plays the best D in the conference but is just in a shooting funk with lots of injuries. One team is 10-9 and the other is 12-6 in a tougher comparative league but you want the 10-9 one to stay!?!?

^This +the 12-6 one has won a post season tournament and, I believe, 2 MAC Championships while the other has tied for one MAC Championship and went one and done in their post-season efforts, IIRC.

Cullop will not be fired in the near future, and I'm glad about that. I also have not lost hope in this year's team. Yes, they've been extremely ugly lately, but they've already proven that they can play very good basketball. And Cullop has certainly proven over the years that she can coach.

I think priority 1 is averting any new scandals like, for example, the point shaving incident. Certainly winning is important, but at this time I don't think there is too much tolerance for risk when it comes to recruiting and hiring. We all want to get to championships, for sure. Has either coach performed so poorly as to get the axe over performance? I'm thinking it's probably premature to be expecting that.

RE: Cullop has to go
One thing to consider regarding Cullop is what she has done for the University and the community.

The last 4 years of Ehlen's tenure, UT averaged around 2000 fans per game, and it was going down (around 1800 his last season). Cullop's first year was 2600, and it has been consistently over 3000 in recent years. Over 4000 in last season, and so down a touch to 3600 so far this year.

Also, it would not surprise me (although I have no evidence to back this up) if Cullop has brought in a lot more donors to the athletic department in her tenure. Also, all her teams have been filled with outstanding citizens and great students that make exceptional ambassadors for the university.

And she's done all that while maintaining a 0.670 winning percentage, 2 MAC regular season championships, 2 other west division crowns and 1 WNIT championship.

Sorry, but I can't see how that warrants her departure.

WHILE.. at the least, retaining the academic standing, if not raising. I'm not sure I'm on-board with all this many foreign players (unless they are 6'4", mobile with a killer 3 pt shot) but they do add something unique to the university experience for all the students and have also been excellent representatives. I'd get homesick and crabby.

RE: Cullop has to go
I think these are all great and valid points, but the staggering mediocrity and that its accepted.

Great, we get big crowds- to lose three straight home games.

I think the program needs fresh blood. Its there to compete.

RE: Cullop has to go
Im not judging on exact records. Im judging on how long they've been with the university and what they've produced.

Cullop hasn't produced anything worthwhile in several years now.

I am supposed to be excited that they went 10-2 in OOC and yet now find themselves in the basement?

10-2 doesn't get us an NCAA berth unless that carries over the MAC play, where they've clearly and rapidly regressed.

The Women's BB is not the rebuild that the Men's has been because of the Manni and Cross scandals,

If we go 7-11 in the MAC that wont hurt our NCAA birth either... Its winning 4 in a row in the MAC tourney which grants the birth. We play in a very tough league. Between 8th and 11th out of 30 conferences... being 10-2 OOC and 4-0 against the Atlantic 10 is still impressive! We know this team can play. Im as PO'd as the next Rocket fan when we lose at home, but its a short term thing. This team will be better than .500 in MAC play and will get a chance in Cleveland once again. Everyone breath. We are only losing by 10 points when we shoot 58% from the FT line, and 38% from the field.

I'm giving Cullop until McIntyre and Printz graduate to get to the NCAAs or win another WNIT. If in 3 years we are still a sub-par .500 team, a change will be needed

Below .500 for the MAC schedule so far. Plus I'm seeing players on other MAC squads with better fundamentals and what appears to be better conditioning. The rest of the season will tell.

Actually, they are .500 in MAC play at 3-3. The article in the Blade said 3-4, but they are 3-3.

Just preparing for the drubbing at Ohio on Tuesday that'll make it officially 3-4

As it turns out, it wasn't a drubbing, but a Rocket victory!

Color me shocked. Toledo seemed like the better team last night.

Losing Campbell>losing Garber. I do think we'll see some improvement when he returns, though. More defensive options, fewer minutes for Taylor and more fouls to spread when we need to foul.
