There's a difference between spinning and outright lying. DJT's credibility, already in question, will be gone in short order at this rate.

How long before he has as little as you?

Nobody who doesn't support DJT has any credibility with the 'alternative facts' crowd.

America has been living in reality again for 48 hours, and its clear some of you are having an problem adjusting to it.

'Reality'? 1.5 million at the inauguration? mmkay.

To be fair....Trump clearly said it "looked" to him like 1.5 million and then said..."I don't know how many." He was clearly giving his personal view. He should not even have gone there..but..People are making way too much of this and are distorting his comment.

Nah, not terribly impressed with Trump. His biggest favorable quality so far is his ability to cause the left to completely melt down. If he does nothing more than continue to make you all show your true colors then he will have a successful presidency.

He said 500,000 were in the stands around the dais. Obvious lie.

The lying was awful, but then ordering Spicer to go out there and lie some more was worse. And then sending the Mistress of Propaganda to honestly say that DJT was using "alternative facts" was even worse.

To the extent that this is still an issue, its all on DJT. He and his team are doing everything possible to promote the story.

Im pretty sure I heard him say the "bowl" held 250k...not 500k. Maybe a later comment. In any rate....all of this is silly and of no consequence. He should never even engaged in this.

LOL.

Its kind of like W going to New Orleans looking for a pile of rubble to stand on. Its been pulled once too many times.

I think It will help Trump. The media is going to go after Trump with everything they have (already have). So, by setting up an openly adversarial relationship with the media, it makes it easier to delegitimize any charge the openly unfriendly media might make as exaggerated or even flat out false.

Frankly, I think the media has blown their attempts to minimize Trump. They have made him sound like such an idiot and buffoon that if he doesn't destroy the economy and declare war on Russian in the first 3 months, he will look like a raging success. If any of his plans actually work and help the economy, the public will think he is the greatest president ever. If they wanted to destroy him, the media should have focused on his agenda and when it failed or fell short of promises, then the public might feel real disappointment. Right now, the majority thinks he'll be a disaster---anything short of that will be viewed as success. The media has set a very low bar.

FWIW--I do like that Trumps transition came in well under budget. If that's an example of how he will run the government---then maybe some very positive things regarding government spending and efficiency will come from his 4 years. I think the next 4 years could be interesting because I don't think Trump is a Republican. I know he ran as one, but I think he's really more of any independent running under the Republican banner. Lol...I have no idea how that's going to work in actual practice.

Not really. The news cycle changes. No one will give a damn in a week. Like Obama's beer summit BS. No one really cared but for a week or so. It will be old news quickly.

Nah, Kellyanne is going to have that phrase thrown in her face repeatedly from her onwards.

There's a difference between something that is kind of forgotten, and something that fades from the news cycle, but no one forgets.

Calling an obvious lie an "alternative fact" is going to stick with her, and this administration for a while.

Interesting factoids---

Trump inauguration drew 30.6 million viewers--- +49% better than the Obama 2013 inauguration.

The inauguration of President Trump got a 20.1 Nielson rating, the 2nd worst for a new president in the last 50 years.

Both are tweets by Michael Muvihill and both are true---showing that its often not the "facts" that matter---its the facts one choses to present and the facts one chooses to ignore. What I find more interesting----The first fact has 6 retweets and the second has 254 retweets.

Should compare Trumps first inauguration to Obamas first, not second. Trumps numbers will drop for a second inauguration if he wins a second term. Then compare that to Obamas second.

37.8 million for President Obama’s first swearing-in ceremony in 2009.

Obama’s second inaugural in 2013 averaged 20.6 million viewers.

Ratings for inauguration ceremonies are higher in years when a new president is sworn in.

And if you compare Obama to Reagan, Reagan wins.

And Trump beat both of the Bush's and Bill Clinton.

In short, a sh*tload of people showed up. It was nothing like what the lying AP tried to present in their photographic proof.

lying AP? How did the photo lie? Was it doctored?

Claiming 250,000 in the stands or 1.5 million at the inauguration was a flat out lie. Call it an 'alternative fact' if you'd like, but its still a lie.

RE: Spicer goes after the media with both feet.
I really don't give a sh!t who had more, and frankly, Trump and the media shouldn't either. The media shouldn't distort the number and Trump really shouldn't care - because a ton of folks showed up. Honestly, I would actually expect more to show up for Obams's first inauguration, him being the first black president and all.......that was an historic occasion.

With that said, I along with huge numbers of people are sick of the media's distortions and picking sides - without that disgust, Trump would never have won (and yes, he won per the rules of the game). I was hopeful that the media, after getting punched in the gut by a Trump victory, would have a bit of reflection and maybe start exercising a bit more balance. It is clear, they've chosen to double down.........I hope the next election whacks off their legs.
