CNN just reported that the campus was damaged. 4 people already reported dead. Let's hope the team was smart enough to stay inside their hotel this morning....or they were still asleep.

JP tweeted all were OK. A tweet quoting the USM AD said a female soccer player on campus lost a couple of fingers.

A couple of clarifications here.....the tornado came through around 4:00 am so thankfully many people were still in bed. Most of the damage to the university is in reference to William Carey University which is a NAIA school about 5-10 minutes south of the USM campus. Still though, lots of damage in Hattiesburg but a majority of it was away from where Rice team was staying as well as the USM campus.

Thanks for the update. Thoughts and prayers with all those affected.

RE: Hattiesburg Tornado
The injury was at WCU to Taylor Gautreaux, from Baton Rouge, La. She is a defender, but apparently was also a goalkeeper in HS, not that her athletic career is the most important thing at stake. Apparently, a door slammed on her hand... there was no news as to whether they could reattach her fingers, but thankfully it wasn't worse.
