If Raiders move approved, does Las Vegas Bowl become new Peach or Fiesta?
Gotta think with the new stadium coming, Las Vegas bowl will try and move to a Post Christmas bowl with two P5's or even try and become a CFP Access bowl when the bids go out in 2020.
Gotta figure 2nd or 3rd PAC verse another P5.

Why would anything change? Both of those games are also going to be played in pretty much if not state-of-the-art stadiums by the time Vegas stadium is built.

This is an excellent point. We dont' really need another big bowl out West but it's certainly worth considering.

Only way they move is if a state shoots itself in the foot and loses the game as a result.

The Vegas casinos don't want a NYE/NYD bowl game. Their hotels are already full with people partying for New Year's and paying higher-than-normal room rates.
7-10 days after New Year's, for a CFP title game, that's something you could get the casino operators to really support, because their business is slower then.

I would think the Pac-12 would move their CCG there. I mean why do it in Santa Clara? Also the basketball tournament is in Vegas every year now so m=they should make vegas their championship city.

Was going to say the exact same thing. Moving the bowl then could almost be overkill. I mean I'm sure they could handle it, but would probably be a headache.

I saw that the City of San Diego is thinking about tearing down Qualcom after 2020. After they build a small stadium for MLS and SDSU.
Once Qualcom is gone, the Holoday Bowl and Ponsettia Bowl will be looking for new homes. I winder if the Holiday Bowl would move to Los Angeles playing in the new Rams stadium.
But you got to wonder if the Rose Bowl eventually gets demoted Holiday Bowl level and a new bowl game in the Rams Stadium takes over the playoff game spot in LA

Because the Pac is being paid to hold the game in Santa Clara.
But when that contract runs out, maybe some other place will offer more money.

Rose Bowl didn't get demoted when the Rams last played in LA and they started a little thing called the Freedom Bowl out there. You have to remember the Freedom Bowl if you are a Hawkeyes fan!? 1984. Chuck Long. Iowa vs Texas. Iowa 55-17 with Hayden Fry having Long throwing deep bombs in the 4th quarter because of the attitude Texas had before the game complaining about their Bowl placement that year. Please tell me you know what I'm talking about? I was 8 and I remember it.
Cheers!

That is going to be tough. The bowl would need big money to join the playoff pool. The big money in Vegas is the casinos. The NCAA wants to stay as far away from the casinos as possible.

I have said Fox should come in a make a Bowl Series to play opposite the CFP.
Holiday
Las Vegas
Alamo
Liberty
Gator
Outback
The 4 G5 champs that didn't make the CFP + P5's that are ranked in the Top 25.
A new stadium in Las Vegas and a bowl there could definitely be considered on that tier.

Vegas would draw more fans. If i am not mistaken the attendance hasn't been the greatest.

Geesh, you guys need to get a grip on reality, no one is gonna care about a G5 anything unless it's teams in the CFP. People barely watch the semifinals (compared to the past) as it is, let alone the G5.

RE: If Raiders move approved, does Las Vegas Bowl become new Peach or Fiesta?
If the group of bowls that hosts the semifinals winds up hosting quarterfinals in an expanded playoff, I could see the Las Vegas Bowl and another "eastern" bowl like the Outback, TaxSlayer, or Citrus being elevated to the "New Year's Eight". The rotation might look something like this:
Odd Years
QF: Rose, Las Vegas, Sugar, Citrus
Contract: Cotton (Big 12 vs. At-Large/SEC), Peach (G5 vs. At-Large), Orange (ACC vs. SEC/B1G), Fiesta (Pac 12 vs. B1G/At-Large)
Even Years
QF: Fiesta, Cotton, Orange, Peach
Contract: Rose (Pac 12 vs. B1G), Las Vegas (At-Large/G5 vs. At-Large), Sugar (SEC vs. Big 12), Peach (ACC vs. G5/At-Large)

As soon as that Stadium is built the focus will not be some "College Bowl Game" it all about gaining a Super Bowl.

Because the major teams are from California.....And everyone else recruits there.

RE: If Raiders move approved, does Las Vegas Bowl become new Peach or Fiesta?
I think that the Las Vegas Vegas Bowl will move there and increase in stature as one of the premier non NY6 bowls at the expense of the Holiday Bowl. If Qualcomm gets replaced by a smaller stadium for MLS & SDSU I think the Holiday and possibly the Poinsettia will look for bigger venues like the the new Rams stadium in LA. Perhaps the Poinsettia sticks around in San Diego as a MWC/BYU type bowl.

RE: If Raiders move approved, does Las Vegas Bowl become new Peach or Fiesta?
Simple as this:
- Holiday bowl gets upgraded to a major non-CFP bowl featuring Big Ten vs PAC, plays in new Rams/Chargers stadium
- LV Bowl dumps the MWC for the Big Ten, becomes another major non-CFP bowl featuring Big Ten vs PAC, plays in new Raiders stadium
Bang. Looks great for the Big Ten and the PAC.
Big Ten basically has a roster of major bowl games in California and Florida.
