Joshua Conrad(DuBois Prep) - Josh had 3 games of 10 plus 3 pointers. He made 10 3"s against Chattanooga Brainerd and scored 39, he made 10 3's against Soulsville and had 38 and won the MLK tournament MVP. He also finished the week against Covington with 12 3 pointers and a career high of 43 points.
But it all revolves around Conrad, a 6-5 senior whom his coach calls simply "the best shooter in the state."
It would be hard to argue. Conrad was at his best against GRAD, pouring in a season-high 48 points with 12 3-pointers. He was 9 of 9 from beyond the arc in the second half, with a couple coming from just inside half-court. It's the fifth 40-point game for a Lion this year; Conrad has three and Wooten and Mitchell each have one.
"I've got the green light," said Conrad in the understatement of the year. "To play in an offense like this with this much freedom ... it's a great feeling. We work hard in practice and we play hard. It's not easy."
Speaking of Dubois, I was impressed with their team overall as they may have placed themselves in the thick of it in the Single A race to state. Coach Johnson has a lot to be excited about in Rameek Wooten, Chris Mitchell and Josh Conrad. The 6’4 guard is a knock down 3 shooter off the set, hitting I know at least 5 against East. His point guard, Branson Bush was getting where he wanted and when he wanted as well and Mitchell and Wooten can score as well. We are used to Mitchell and BTW being there for Single A but you have to throw Dubois is there as well, they are pretty good.
Who is WEB Dubois? A new Class A powerhouse has arisen and they are making big noise on the Memphis Hoops scene. Josh Conrad (WEB Dubois) notches 43 against Covington and 31 against Brainerd. Branson Bush (WEB Dubois) 28 point effort against a very good Houston squad and Chris Mitchell (WEB Dubois) who nailed 36 against Houston in a victory mind you, 34 against Oakhaven and 25 against Freedom Prep. Class A watch out their may be a new sheriff in town.

Hard to tell from a 2 minute clip, but he looked to have range and a sort of sinewy strength...it's hard to describe, but the opposite is Jimario Rivers, who doesn't have it...he also to be a legit 6-4 to 6-5.
Don't know anything about these new schools TN Prep or DuBois, but Sodom was at one and this kid is draining 10 3s a game at another...they both have Memphis kids that you can't find any background on...weird.
Assume (hope) the Memphis staff is aware of the HS scene though and have made their evaluations/projections on both.

It's certainly odd that a 6-5 Memphis kid who hits 10 three pointers a game for a team that is ranked in the CA's Dandy Dozen isn't on any recruiting lists or whatever.

Very strange.
Does he have any handles?
Has he played AAU?
No idea - that's the point...can't find anything on these TN Prep or Du Bois kids really.

Here are some highlights of Conrad's game against KIPP. If you look at his shot, it looks like a set shot instead of a jumper. It's pure though. I wonder what his percentage is. After all, these are highlights. If he 4 for 20, that's not good.

And when you are shooting from that deep do you really need a jumper
no, but he'll need a much quicker release. Curry doesn't jump much, but takes a nanno-second to pull the trigger. this kid has nice form, but starts the shot from below the waist and is quite methodical about it.

The big local mysteries are DuBois and TN Prep. No one seems to know anything about either.
So far this year, TN Prep has 3 kids committed to DI schools - now those schools are only New Mexico, Southern Miss and Florida International, but still...how many other local schools have 3 DI basketball commits...
