They matter immensely. Teams playing their way into Cleveland have very very very little chance to win the tourney. Seeding is huge. Plus this game really shows that we do not have the offense to compete in a tournament. Huskies exposed big time today.

Well, then I guess they aren't going to the NCAA tourney. On to the next season....

It was a measuring stick game for sure to see if NIU could increase offensive efficiency against a good opponent. Test failed.

Test was failed! A lot of games left. If Marshawn Wilson doesn't start getting some of Armstead minutes soon I'm pretty sure he's leaving!

As he should. Montgomery should not recruit offensive minded players, ever again. If you don't care about offense, don't recruit offense!

Armstead minutes too many, turnovers and terrible FG percentage. Giving away too many possessions for this team to compete with top half of MAC teams.

Highsmith is not taking enough outside shots

Last 7 minutes we were very inefficient, you can't win a game where your opponent shoots that well and you have simple mistake after simple mistake.

I don't agree that we were exposed on offense, our opponent had a great outside game and we failed to extend on to shooters

Was a winnable game that was lost by some very simple plays gone wrong

We've got one guard playing well.

Maddawg, I don't know about that German is a offense player and is getting better every game also getting more playing time as well!

One of the few truly bright spots offensively. The sad thing is that if history repeats itself we should have very little faith that he will develop going forward.

This is such a gut wrenching loss, although in hindsight it shouldn't be. With a last in the MAC offense it would be ridiculous to have high expectations. Just a bit of a reality check today

It was gross, back to a bit of the bad NIU. Ohio has some talent, that's the first thing I noticed.

In the last 7 minutes (after we tied or right around there), Armstead had two WIDE open threes, after actual good ball movement! He missed badly on both, make those and we keep the momentum we had. Maric (while his stats looked alright) didn't have his best game either. Most of his rebounds were on a couple plays where he kept going up and missing layups and getting his own rebound.

German keeps getting better and better. I thought Key/Bradley had decent nights overall. But if Wilson isn't going to play, and Maric/Armstead don't have great nights, we're just not going to beat many teams.

That all being said, we're 4-2, we're doing alright. But I tend to agree with MD (it's rare!), not sure I can see this team winning the MAC tourney this year unless something big changes.

They have no chance of winning a MACC because they cannot make 3pters!

But you have to ask why that is true. There is no motion or ball movement in this offense

I think it's pretty clear they want to play through the post, when the ball doesn't come back out that post player needs to convert and unfortunately Maric didn't have a great game

The real problem I have with yesterday is that defensively we allowed ourselves to get beat by the 3 ball, you have to extend and make them do something else to beat you, if you let them (ohio) have bombs away it seems they make a good enough percentage to beat you, the if they make it tell them good shot mentality is a problem, because they do make it, and we lose because of it.

The lack of 3 point shooting is really bad but they're not great from the field in general. They rank 232nd in overall FG%, 335th (!) in 3PT FGM and 336th (!!!) in 3PT%. Unbelievable. FT% is 198th in the country.

I was worried about that going into the Ohio game, sometimes losing a guy like Campbell can have a short term help. Ohio reverted back to its perimeter game and killed us. The Kent game is a game to me which will determine whether NIU is in the hunt for a 5-8 type seed, or if we are headed toward 9-12 seed. A loss Tuesday and we are a bottom 3 team for sure.

Last year a 10-8 record got you a 3,4,5 or 6 seed. Huskies go 6-6 to finish the season and they are 10-8.

If NIU drops the game to Kent Tuesday, they wont be finishing 10-8. There are at least 5 automatic losses on the remaining schedule.
