Good to hear. If the NCAA had that for first-time startups also, this year would've been our 2nd bowl game, not our first, because we went 7-5 in our first year in C-USA but were ineligible because it was only the third year of our football program. At least you guys don't need to deal with that crap after your short absence from the sport.

How many scholarship players does UAB have? Are you up to the full 85? Were you able to keep any players on the team when it was shut down? And if yes, what about remaining eligibility?

UAB never "left" FBS so there's no transition. They just didn't field a team for a couple of years due to, um, circumstances.

Looking forward to having you guys back and over in our division. Hope you like coming to Texas twice a year. Great place for recruiting: quality HS football. Kind of like Alabama except bigger but with only half as many SEC teams

It was my understanding that any player who stayed and any player who signed during their "absence" from football would have their eligibility suspended. Meaning that if a player signed two years ago, he still has those two years of eligibility left.

I guess that means that UAB could have a 20yo true freshman

I don't have a clue what's going to happen as far as wins/losses, but I'm just excited at the thought of getting to watch us play again

We will have an 85+ competitive roster by the spring. We may not have quite the depth Clark wants but we'll have some of the best talent UAB has ever had at the skill positions.

As you'd expect DL and OL are our thinnest spots in terms of depth.

We've been waiting for the day for a very very long time. I miss the football related banter with you all. It's just not been the same with out it.

What's up with the gray bball uniforms? I thought UAB's colors were green and gold.

Yes. Sorry to disappoint you. The NCAA considered Ray Watts a natural disaster.
