Cliffs: Apparently the players got worked so hard in offseason conditioning that 3 of them had to be hospitalized with symptoms of rhabdomyolysis, which basically (as I understand it... I'm NOT a doctor.) occurs when a muscle or group of muscles are worked so hard that they begin to break down and their contents get absorbed into the bloodstream. Severe cases can lead to kidney failure. This is some nasty, nasty stuff.

This supposedly happened last week at some point, and as of last night 2 of the 3 players were still hospitalized.

I live out west and the story is probably getting more pub out here than it is back that way.

The headline about NMU player is slightly misleading.

He had finished workout, left the facility, eaten breakfast, and returned to his dorm room where he died.

Oregon S&C coach has been suspended for a month without pay.

Any idiot with a clipboard and a whistle can make you sweaty, tired, even sick. Doesn't make you a better Football player or athlete.

Workout vs. wear out.

Oregon already indefinitely suspended the Strength/Conditioning coach... who knows if it ends there.

Utterly appalling.
